CAVEMEN WILL AHEND
BANQUET HERE AUG. 9

Word was received this morning by
the Chamber of Commerce that the
Grants Pass Cavemen will provide a
short entertainment at the banquet
to be held August 9 in honor of Arno
B. Cammerer, director of the national
park service and Robert Fechner, di
rector of the Civilian Conservation
corns. What form of entertainment
will be offered Is not known, but It
la presumed that the Cavemen will be
on hand In their "skins" and In all
probability will present the distin
guished guests with "Jaw bones.'
Chamber of Commerce officials ex
pressed themselvea as being delighted
that this entertainment waa being
offered by the Grants Pass Cavemen
and the stunt that will be put on
will undoubtedly be one of the high
pots of the evening's entertainment.

Th membership campaign being
conducted by the local aerie of the
Fraternal Order of Eagle got under
way yesterday and will continue until
August IT, It waa announced by
George Coates and Jack Hueston,
leaders of the campaign.
At the last meeting of the local
lodge, approximately thirty applies
tlons for membership were received,
which Is an Indication, officers point
out, that the membership of the local
organization will be greatly strength
ened during the next two weeks.
Throughout the United States,
membership of the Engles has been
greatly Increased during the past year
and It Is expected that at least 100
new members will be Initiated Into
the local aerie on August 17. Special
dispensation hsg been allowed for
those who are at present delinquent
In their dues and any Eagle wishing
to be reinstated Is asked to get In
touch with officers of the lodge or
members of the campaign committee.
This dispensation expires Septem
ber 1.

by Charles T. Schue, city fireman, laid
four eggs at once. The fowl weighed
only 18 ounces, while the four eggs
weighed six.
