tinder may be stayed, and the farmer
given ample time to refinance, and
even operate his farm property upon
the payment of small Interest
charges, all supervised by a proper
officer of the court.

Barred from Evergreen hall and from
the county fair grounds Tuesday, a
showing of a "red" movie waa broken
up Wednesday night when an at
tempt was made to run the film at
Bills hall, Ninth and H streets.
Declaring they were representing
the citizens of the state and the
United Statee, a group of about 16
Grants Pass residents halted the mov
ing picture, "Road to Life," being
shown by Its circulators, A. Johnson
and Cliff Gould, sponsored here by
the local unemployment council. The
circulators were given 12 hours to
leave town.
There were about 30 men, women
and children at the meeting to view
the film. An Introductory speech,
Intended to describe the necessity for
a new system of crlr.ie correction,
was made by Gould. It waa the ref
erence made In this speech to the
penal system used In the United
Slates that the second group used aa
an excuse for demanding that the
meeting be dlsmussed.
At first the objectors to the meet
ing delayed the film's showing by
pulling out the fuse blocks that sup
plied power to the projector. When
the objectors had departed and the
operators attempted again to show
the film, the local group returned
and broke up the meeting.
The picture, which depicted the
"wolf" children of Russia who had
been left parcntlena by the revolu
tion and famine that followed, to
gether with the "collective" system
devised by the Soviet government for
correction of the children, was about
half run when the second group re
turned and crowded Into the hall.
The picture was at first billed to
be shown at the American Legion
hall on Tuesday evening. This waa
eliminated by the fact that the hall
him only one exit, making the show
ing of a film there In conflict with
law. It waa then advertised for the
aame evening at the fair grounds,
but the county court and county fair
board published a statement In
which they denied the group the
rtuht to hold such a meeting at that
place.

ing and shovel work being done by
the Hoffman Construction company
of Portland Is under way on the new
undercroMlng north of Ashland.
Hoffman la employing approximately
16 local men, and M. 0. Llnlnger &
Son, local contractors doing the haul
ing for Hoffman, are employing 1&
local men.
It will take about a month to do
the dicing and, when that phase of
the work Is completed, a month and
a half to build the abuttments.
Twelve hundred and fifty cubic yard
of concrete will be poured Into the
wooden forms which will be con
structed by local carpeuters.
The railroad company will lay the
steel noon for completion of the tem
porary truatle over the highway. Ties

When the undercroeilng la fin
ished and concrete Is poured Into
the form, preparations will be made
for paving and laying of railroad
steel.
The work is scheduled to last well
up Into November before the under

struction Is very dangerous and mo
torista are warned to exercise great
rare and caution In approaching the
crowing. Too speedy driving will

pavement
