Among business mateera coming before
the business session of the Presby
tery of Southwest Oregon, held here
Wednesday In connection with the
Synod of Oregon, was the resignation
of Rev. W. J. Howell as pastor of the
Medford Presbyterian church. The
resignation was accepted by the pres
bytery to take effect October 1.
Rev. A, O. Miller of Lake view waa
transferred to the presbytery of Sac-,
ramento. I
Thursday, third day of the annual
synod, waa devoted to the work of
the national missions, Including Sun-;
day school mission work, work among
the Indiana In Oregon and other
buslnesa of a general nature.
Only one death among the Presby
terian ministers of Oregon during the
year was noted, that of Rev. Joseph
A. McVeigh, last November. Rev. Mc
Veigh was pastor of the Presbyterian
church at Rogue River some fifteen
yeara ago and later at Glendale. He
died at his home In Rogue River.
Among those attending synod from
Medford and southwest Oregon pres

mons and evil spirits in gripping 99
per cent of the people in Asia and
Africa; the use of all medicine and
surgery worthy of the name of mod
ern education, science, etc.. was first
taken to so-called heathen countries
by Christian missionaries and devel
oped there by them."
