Interesting Affair
For Younger Group
A acavenger hunt, which led them
to many homea In the city, before

discovered the prize, waa enjoyed on
Friday evening by a group of Med
ford'e younger set. Hoetenee for the
evening, were the Mlaaea Jane Sollna-

strong. After the search had ended the
party gathered at the Reter residence,
where the garage had been converted
Into a country dance floor, with corn
stalks and hay as decorations.

Patsy Thompson, Betty Purdin, Mary

With Mrs. Hedges
The Pen Pushers met on Thursday
evening with Mra. Louise Hodges,
Mrs. Anna Wlnternalder presiding.
Roll call was answered by descrip
tive quotations rend by the members
and Mra. Hedges, Mra. A. V. Gravis
and Mrs. Winterhalder read manu
scripts and criticisms and market
suggestions were a part of the pro
gram. A round tahle discussion waa held
on various phasea of writing. Mra.
Satchwell, a member of the club, will
be on the program for the League of
Western Writers' convention In Port
land, It was announced.
A check-up waa made on points In
a contest being conducted by the
club among Its members, and Mra.
Allen May cook was leading. Mra.
Winterhalder and Mra. Cook reported
they had had manuscripts accepted
for publication aince the Inst meet
ing of the club.

Canton and Ladles' Auxiliary, 81a

Mission Group Has
Picnic at Ashland
The South Methodist Woman's
Missionary society held the July
social and program meeting laat
Tuesday at Llthla Park In Ashland.
About 35 were present and enjoyed
the picnic. After dinner a program
on the co-operative Christian work
of Brazil especially the Bible socie
ties and the Temperance organ I ra
tions, waa given under the leadership
of Mra. Nlda Oatman.
About 6,000,000 scripture coplee
have been distributed by these vari
ous societies but the needs for th
Bible and its teachings la still great.
It was pointed out. The Brazilian
Christians are strongly opposing the
evils of intemperance in their coun
try.
Mra. Hubler sang "The Bible,' and
a reading, "My Bible and I" wai
given.
Mrs. Preatrldge closed the meeting
with prayer.
After the meeting every one lin
gered to enjoy the park and Its plea
sures and alt felt It had been a very
enjoyable meeting.
Mlas Koozer Returns
From Vacation Mt
Miss Ruth Koozer has returned to
Medford from San Francisco and
other bay points, whore she enjoyed a
ten days' vacation. At Martlnea, she
vlMted Mr. and Mra. R. W. Crowson
(Margaret Wood), and at Stockton.
Miss Koozer was the guest of her
aunt, Mrs. Carl F. Otto.

Eniile Eyre arrived here Saturday on
the Shasta, to spend a few days at
the F. D. Madison lodge on th Rogvie
river. Mr. Madison said that a party
of friends. Including several from New
York, will arrive here the latter part
of thla week, and will Journey to the

Gleaners' class of the First Baptist
church met with the president, Mrs.
B. F. Neff, at her home on East Ninth
street Tuesday afternoon. The meet
ing waa opened with a song, "Savior
More Than Life to Me," followed by
scripture, Phllllplans 4, with thoughts
on verses 8 and 0 by Odessa Daven
port, comparing Paul's letter t6 the
Phllllplans and modern psychology,
"Think on these things," a story
of a Russian exile, illustrating verse
12, waa given. Ha had been a Rus
sian noble, a trusted officer of the
czar and wealthy. He aald "I am very
happy now, because X have something
useful to do. I no longer mourn over
what has happened In the past. Per
haps It waa for the best. At any rare

Prayer by Mra. W. T. Jennings waa
followed by the song, "Give of Your
Bete to the Master."
A short business session, Mrs. W. L.
Jones acting aa secretary, was con
ducted. The August meeting will be
a picnic or evening party, to which
the Men's Bable class will be invited.
The Gleaners are to bring their hus
bands and the men. their wives. Mra.
W. T. Jennings recited Psalm 19, and
the closing prayer waa given by Mrs.
Neff.
The social hour waa In charge of
Mrs. Howell, and refreshment were
served by the committee, Mra. A. B.
Mead, Mrs. John Lewis and Mrs. Rose
Heffner.

Fraternal Visitors
Olive Rebekah lodge met In regular
session Monday evening with all the
newly installed officers present.
Twenty-five members of the canton
and ladles' auxiliary made a fraternal
visit. After the business meeting the
following program waa given;

reading, Mra. Seagler; stunt, agricul
ture degree.
A gift was presented Ethel Hum
phrey, past noble grand, by the girls
of the P. L. club. Refreshments were
served.

Meet Well Attended
A good attendance was reported at
the meeting of the Degree of Honor
Thursday evening, with the business
meeting in charge of Edith Elliott.
Th drill team girls were present.
Guests Included Mr. and Mrs. Clar
ence HsLsen and family; Mr. and
Mra. James Brown and children, Ada
Rose and James Paul. On the program
Mr. Hansen and eon, Benny, played
a violin and guitar duet. Lewis Par
ker gave a reading and Lucille Seller
played a piano solo. Refreshments
were served and dancing enjoyed dur
ing the remainder or the awning.
The Degree of Honor picnic ts to be
held at Ashland today and those
wishing to attend are asked to meet
at the hall by 11 o'clock. Lunch ta
to be served at 1:30. All membera
wishing to go are to call the hall, it
was announced yesterday.

Colonial Club Is
Given for Eighty
A no-host supper party at the Col
onial club was among the outstand
ing events planned for last evening,
and wac attended by forty couple.
Several Interesting gatherings were
held preceding the party at the club.
Mr. and Mrs. K. W. Kendrick were
hosta early in the evening at their
home, 28 Geneva, to about twenty
guests at a cocktail party.

Invited their dinner club of twelve
to their home, after which they con
tinued to the Colonial club for danc
ing. Mr. and Mra. William McAllis
ter also entertained their dinner club
before Joining the party.

Miss Mary Sellers of thla city and
Harold W. Sargent of Boston, Mass.,
were united In marriage at a seven
o'clock service Thursday evening at
the First Christian church, with Rev.
W. R. Balrd officiating. Only a few
relatives and close friends were In
attendance. f
The bride was attended by Mrs.
Hal Halght, and Lawrence Sellers,
brother of the bride, waa best man.
Among those In attendance waa the
brtde's uncle, B. L. Hughes.
The couple will reside In Medford
for the remainder of the summer,
then will leave for Boston to make
their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Parley Sellers. She waa
graduated from Medford high school
and Southern Oregon Normal sohool,

Visit With Friends Here
Mrs. Nellie Wing Albert, who has
been visiting friends in the city for
the past two weeks, left for her home
in Berkeley, Calif., Saturday morn
ing. Her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Bell, of Martinez,
Cal.. who have been vacationing In
the Canadian Rockies arrived here
Friday afternoon and were the guests
overnight of Dra. Carlow. Mrs. Albert
accompanied them south.
