Southard, convicted at Twin Falls of
poisoning one of her four husbands
approximately a decen years ago, was
denied a pardon by the state board
of pardons In session today at the
Idaho penitentiary.
She is serving a 10-years-to-live
sentence for second degree murder.

TRY LIFE IN NAVY
Patrick Henry Shaw, 1028 Reddy.
Charles Henry Ward of Jacksonville
and James Bush of Rogue River have
been selected for enlistment in the
U, S. navy through the local recruit
ing office, Recruiting Officer A. P,
Walker announced today.
They will be sent to Portland to
be officially enlisted before going to
Ban Diego to receive preliminary
training. Shaw graduated from the
Medford high school, Ward from the
Jacksonville high school, and Buah
from the Rogue River high school.
Walker stated that the quota for
this month has been raised to six,
and expects a further raise to it
leaat 10 for August. He re porta that
there art 83 applicants on the wait
ing list.
