At a meeting ot the Oregon Pacific
Highway association, held at Oranta
Paaa yesterday, it waa unanlmoualy
decided to ask the atate highway
commission to devota all the available
funds for primary highways In thla
district to the Siskiyou project, It
waa announced today by A. 8. V, Car
penter, chairman of the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce roads
and highways committee.
The meeting waa attended by repre
sentatives of Eugene, Roseburg, Grant
Pass, Ashland, and Medford. A com
mittee composed of one representative
each from the cities attending drafted
the following letter to the atate high
way commission, which was unani
mously adopted:
"At a meeting of the Paclflo High
way association held In Oranta Pass.
June 38, 1934, with representatives
from Jackson, Josephine, Douglas
and Lane counties In attendance, the
following resolution was unanimously
passed :
"Whereas: The atate highway com
mission began the Improvement of
the Pacific highway in aouthern Ore-
son, and the elimination of the
dangerous Siskiyou section, we most
heartily approve the commission's
action, and we, the representatives of
southern Oregon, urge a, continua
tion of the commission's efforts to
complete this Improvement, and feel
that the allocation of all available
funds should be used to this end.'

send a representative to a meeting
of the state highway commission to

SALEM, June 39 (AP) More than
half of the accounts of the Guardian
Building & Loan association upon
which a 60 per cent dividend Is being
paid are either unclaimed or letters
to them returned mrrked "where
abouts unknown," Charles H. Carey,
state corporation commissioner, de
clared here today.
The firm Is being liquidated by the
corporation department, but the lack
of Information relative to the ad
dresses of those having accounts Is
delaying the work. The Portland of
fice of the corporation commissioner
Is handling the distribution of the
assets and Carey urged all those
having claims to Inform that office
immediately.

PORTLAND, June 29 (p) The ex
penditure of $26,000 in two drought
stricken counties of Oi ego n Jeffer
son and Crook, will b undertaken
immediately by the federal emergency
relief administration.
Thla was announced here late yes
terday by Elmer R. Ooudy, adminis
trator for FERA in Oregon, and exec
utive secretary of the state relief
committee. He said a tour of the two
counties showed him conditions there
were acute and that livestock has
been turned Into grain fields to pas
ture. The $25,000 will be used for drilling
wells, cleaning out springs, for dis
tribution to farmers for purchase of
new seed and feed, and for purchase,
slaughter and processing of livestock.
There was a total of about 960,-
000,000 bushels of wheat in the world
on August 1, 1933. The United States
held 36 per cent of that amount.

the commission. He reserved com
ment on the McMorran controversy
and gave no explanation for request
ing the resignation.
Salary Started Quarrel
The quarrel between the governor
and the commission broke openly re
cently when Meier protested salary
Increases which the commission had
approved for administration officials
In the liquor department. The diffi
culty was aired by both side and In &
board of control meeting, and eventu
ally the commissioners capitulated to
the governor and lowered all salaries
they had previously Increased.
