In connection with the member
ship drive that la being conducted by
the Rogue River Valley dolt club,
an Interesting group of trophies and
photographs are on display In the
windows of the Toggery. The group
consists of cups awarded at the local
course during a period of several years,
and several photographs are exhibited
illustrating the events and their par
tlclpante.
The cup designating the 1931 spring
handicap tournament championship,
which waa won by Henry H. Prlngle
Is displayed, as well as the cup won
by William P. Isaacs for the same
event In 1930.
The trophy presented In 1933 by
August P. Johnson la exhibited, among
the winners of which are listed H.
' Chandler Egan, local golfer on this
year's United States Walker cup team,
which defeated Oreat Britain so de
cisively. An enlarged photo of the
veteran player Is alao exhibited, taken
by Shangle. Egan acored a low gross
of 87 In the 1933 local tournament,
and low net score, a 63, was made by
J. B. Kirk In the same event,
Also for the 1933 season, the
champion dub trophy, won by Robert
W, Ruhl, la exhibited. A photo ac
companies this cup, and ahows Ruhl
us he received the trophy emblematic
of his victory.
The Pacific Air Transport trophy
lists the names of Its winners as J.
W. Townaend, 1031; A. S. V. Carpen
ter, 1033, and John B. Kirk. 1033.

la exhibited was won this year by

offered by the Murray Beauty Parlor,

in 1033, and Mrs. J. O. Thompson In
1934.
There Is also a cup designating the
1913 boys' singles tennis ohamplon
hlp In the display, won by Henry

Tonight the three comedies, which
are being presented tomorrow even
ing in the gym of the First Meth
odist church at 8 o'olock, are having
their final rehearsal. The leaguera
have been busy for the past three
weeks on these comedies and are
now ready to give them before an
audience. ,
Besides the three comedies there
will be several musical numbers. The
program will be opened with a. num
ber played by the league orohestra.
There will be special songs between
the playa.
Since this program la being put
on to raise funds to aend delegates
to the Institute It la hoped that
there will be a large attendance to
morrow evening.

today at the National Re-employment
office In the city hall, under the di
rection of Lewis Ulrlch.
Men Interested In positions as ex
perienced woodsmen, may also apply
at the Jackson county relief office,
and at the forest service office, where
Jack Fitzgerald Is In charge.
Persona accepting this work, recolve
930 a month, besides food, clothing
and shelter, and aa a five-day week
sohedule la being used, It afforda the
men an opportunity to spend the
week-end at home.
Blister rust camps are now full,
and most of the forest service crews
have their quotas, according to Infor
mation received today. Road con
struction, undor the PWA contracts,
at Crater Lake la being done by men,
moat of whom are selected from Kla
math and Douglas counties.
Due to the fact that all these di
visions of labor are now filled, Mr.
Ulrlch urged those who are In need
of work to take advantage of the
forest service employment.
Men are being enrolled for the
camps to fill up the quotas which
were reduced by the discharge of
men completing 18 months with the
OCO.
Although a request has been la-
sued by the park service for about
oo men, Mr. Ulrlch stated that the
unsettled conditions at Crater Lake
national park made any employment
there Indefinite,

CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK,
Ore., (Spl.) Another evidence how
Time Is slowly and patiently chang
ing the appearance of all things, a
large slide of pumice occurred re
cently from the summit of Llao Rock
Into the waters of Crai-er Lake, leav
ing a path of yellow down the face
of the high lava cliff. It was first
believed a portion of the rock had
slipped off, but a thorough investi
gation disproved this thought.
Through thousands of years which
have elapsed since Mt. Mazama, one
of the outstanding volcanoes of an
cient times, was destroyed, the cra
ter walla have been gradually wearing
bale as a result of the forces of ero
sion. The changes have been so
slight they cannot be easily noted In,
lifetime or In ' the passage of a
century, but In the course of many
centuries the changes would be perceptible.
CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK,
Ore. (Spl.) On the summit of the
first high point of the west rim of
Crater lake, the Watchman observa
tion station la now open to the pub
lic, with an attendant In charge. The
early opening, nearly one month
ahead of last year, waa the result of
unusually light snowfall of last win
ter, which brought less than B0 per
cent of tho winter before.
The station can be reached from
the rim road, entailing a walk of less
than 20 minutes... The station, one
of the moat modern ever constructed,
not only serves as a vantage point for
visitors to gain a complete pano
rama of the lake and park area, but
as a forest fire protective measure as
well. The attendant in charge Is well
versed In the art of fire detection.

the county fairgrounds Sunday, Cliff
("Chief") McLean will have his sec
