Meeting Thursday
Royal Nelghbora met Thursday eve
ning In social session and after a
brief business routine, Neighbor
Edith Beck and her team put on the
fancy drill which they prepared for
the district convention, held at Ash
land, June A.
Captain and team spared neither
time nor palna In perfecting thla drill
which la very fine and was greatly
enjoyed wherever presented.
A skit followed, "Bringing Up
Father" with Neighbors Mae Rankin,
Lola Ludwlg, Mra. Nixon, Frieda
Klngsley, and Marjorle Pearson aa
the characters. Owing to Illness Mrs.
Jessie Lang waa unable to take her
part, and Neighbor Nixon substituted
for her. Thla number waa also well
received. Neighbor Marie SUva pleased
the audience with several well ren
dered instrumental selections.

report of proceedings at the conven

Students' Recital
Piano puplla of Mrs. E. E. Gore
were heard In their annual recital
Friday evening at the Baldwin recital
hall which was filled to capacity by
parents and frlenda of the young
students. Many of the young plan
lata were appearing before an audi
ence for the first time, but the play
ing wss characterized by clarity and
deflnlteness of technic, musical un
derstanding and evident enjoyment
of the work in hand. The Interesting
program waa diversified with feature
numbers for two snd three pianoa
and the ensemble effect waa exact
and musical.
The facilities of the Baldwin shop
were much appreciated as the excel
lent plsnoe In perfect tune, the at
tractive lighting effecta and the ease
with which the audience was seated.

Mrs. Rose Schleffelln left yester
day for Mapleton, Ore., where ahe
plana to remain for six weeks or two
months, visiting. She sccompanted
Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Daniels, and their
house guest, Mlsa Irene Balcom, of
Oakland, Calif., on tbe trip north.
They will stop at Idlewlld for a few
dsys before continuing the Journey.

At the cabin home of Mr. and Mrs.
Qua Samuela on Wagner creek, which
was attractively decorated with large
baskets of delphinium, regal lilies,
and mock orange, Mlsa Venlta Ander
son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Anderson of Medford, and Edward
Goodwin, son of William Goodwin of
Fort Jones, Calif., wero married Sun
day at a 1:30 o'clock service, Rev. W.
R. Balrd, pastor of the First Christian
church, officiating.
The ceremony was performed at an
Improvised altar, before the fireplace,
with flowera arranged attractively
about the room. The bride, who was
given In marriage by her father, was
wearing white lace over aatln, with a
white hst, and carried a sheaf of
lilies. Her only attendant waa Miss
Juanlta Griffin of Medford. who waa
attired in green, with yellow acces
sories. The best man was Norman
Pegg of Fort Jones.

Promise Me."
Following the ceremony, dinner
waa served the 36 guesta In atten
dance. At the table, small pieces of
cake were at each place, tied with
yellow ribbon and a sprig of mock
orange. Sweetness formed the cen
terpiece for table.

Honored Thursday
Membera of the Busy Band circle
of the First Baptist church, with
their husbands, met Thursday eve
ning at the W. R. Crawford heme on
the North Pacific highway, for a cov
ered dish supper. The pastor of the
church, Rev. W. H. Eaton, Mra. Eaton
and son were honor guests.
After the supper, which waa served
on the lawn, the Eaton were present
ed a lovely quilt, made by the ladles
of the Busy Band. Visiting waa en
Joyed during the remainder of the

Degree of Honor
At the meeting of the Degree of
Honor held last Monday, two vocal
solos by June Wilder, accompanied
at the piano by her sister Dorothy,
were greatly enjoyed. Mlas June waa
attired in an old-fashioned costume.
Miss Dorothy Wilder also entertained
with two piano aolos. The trio which
was, waa accompanied at the piano
by Lewis Parker.

Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Hull of Provi
dence, R. I., and Florida, are In Med
ford to spend a month as the guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Erlckson. They
made the trip west by motor from
their winter home In Florida, visiting
the Grand Canyon. Yosemlte and
Sequoia national parks, en route.
Before returning home, they will visit
Yellowstone National park.

HuU visited Crater Lake during the
past week, and this week they will

Mrs. Olllnsky was graduated from
the Southern Oregon Normal school,
having previously been graduated
from Medford high school.

To San Jose Saturday
Mlsa Gladys Murphy left Saturday
by motor for San Jose. Cal., where
she will attend the aummer session
at the State Teachers' college in that
city. Miss Murphy arrived here last
Sundsy from San Jose, where she has
been attending school the past year.
