Gary Cooper Heads
Cast Craterian Hit
"Operator 13," playing at the Cra
terian theater until tomorrow night,
combines the elements of good enter
tainment, thrill, drama, comedy and
good acting, with music and romance
to make It an outstanding screen
achievement.
As Gall Loveless, the federal epy
who is sent into the southern lines
to destroy the most dangerous spy of
the Confederacy, Miss Davles contrib
utes her finest dramatic performance
of her eventful career.
Gary Cooper, the Southern spy,
equally surpasses all his former
screen roles as the man whom Miss
Davles sets out to destroy and with
whom she falls In love.
This Is a story of spies, of espion
age and Intrigue, and throws a new
historical light upon the moat dra
matic of all America's conflicts the
Civil War.
Nothing apparently was spared to
make "Operator 13" as authentic as
possible. Through It are woven many
characters whose names have become
Immortal In America's history
Abraham Lincoln, Pauline Cushman,
Allan Plnkerton, General "Jeb" Stu
art and many others.
The role of the famous spy, Pau
line Cushman, Is admirably handled
by Katharine Alexander. Sldley To
ler plays the part of Plnkerton, at one
time chief of the federal secret serv
ice, and Douglas Dumbrille brings
back to life the greatest of all cavalry
leaders, "Jeb" Stuart.
