Bride of Mr. Cook
In Church Wedding
'. In an Impressive ceremony, per
formed at tight o'clock Thursday
evening by Rev. William R. Balrd,
MIh Virginia Oregory, daughter at Mr.
and Mrs. A. H. Gregory o( Medford,
and Ralph L. Cook, son of Mr. and
Mra. W. M. Cook ot Yakima, Wash.,
vara united In marriage at the First
Christian church, before a large gath
ering of their friends.
Olven In marriage by her father,
the bride wore white aatln and lace,
made floor length, prlnce&s style. Her
veil was of plain tulle, held In place
by a coronet of orange blossoms, and
her shower bouquet was of pink rose
buds. Miss Marjorle Oregory, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor and wore a,
frock of pink taffeta with flounces
shirred to each aide of the skirt at
the knee. She carried a bouquet of
sweet peas.
The frocks of the brldeamalds were
fashioned the same as the m&tds of
honor., Miss Oeraldlne Latham wore
light green taffeta, and Miss Jean
Woodford -waa attired In pale yellow.
Both carried bouquets of sweet peas.
Wayne May, who came here from
Oakland, Calif,, was best man, and
the ushers were Oerald Latham and
Charles Smith.
Boss petals were strewn down the
aisle by little Vera Frances Smith,
who wore pink ruffled organdie.
Preceding the oeremony, Mr. and
Mra. Marmle E. Olson sang Cadman's
"At Dawning", and Mlsa Eleanor
Curry eang as a solo. "Because." Mlaa
Oenevleve Brown was at the piano,
and also played Wagner's Wedding
March from Lohengrin.
Following the wedding, reception
waa held at the Oregory residence,
829 East Jackson street, to which
forty guests were Invited. Serving,
were Miss Betty Culy and Miss Roxy
Anna Fry, with Mrs. P. O. Latham
and Mrs. Mabel Marsh assisting about
the rooms. The House was decorated
In bouquets of sweet peas.
Out-of-town guests for the wed
ding and reception were Mr. and Mrs.
W. M. Cook and daughter Miss Varna
of Yakima, and Mrs. a. o. Orlggs
and daughter, Jeen, of Nampa. Ida.
For traveling, Mrs. Cook wore a
two-piece print suit, with white ax
cusorles. The couple will be at
home to their friends In Medford,
following a three weeks' wedding trip
south.

Past Pocahontas'
Honored at Lodge
The Past Pocahontas were honored
. Friday night by taking charge of the
meeting of the lodge. Those occu
pying the offices were lather Dooms,
Pocahontas: Oladya Lawrenta, Wen
onah: Oladya Dooms, Prophetess and
Frank Martin, Powhatan.
After the lodge session an enjoy
able evening of dancing was held,
with Dickey's orchestra furnishing the
music. Refreshments were served by
Carrie Mllnes, Evelyn Stagg and Nor
ma Martin.
Next .Friday evening will be the
regular social card party Bight.

Session at Church
The Home and Foreign Missionary
societies, hsld a Joint session Tuesday
afternoon In the parlors of the First
M. E. church with Mrs. Holloway and
Mra. Wiley presiding, respectively.
Exercises opened with singing "In
the Service of the King", followed
with prayer.
The nominating committee pre
sented the following officers for the
new year: President, Mrs. Mortensen;
vice president, Miss Phtpps: corre
sponding secretary, Mrs. Koppen:
treasurer, Mrs. Holloway.
Devotional period was under the
leadership of Mrs. Kunzman, with the
topic, "Service". Mra. Andrews re
peated the service given at the con
vention held at DUIard, reading John
8-13, also Psalms 111:3-6. Mrs. Kop
pen briefly outlined the program, of
the convention with Mrs. Wiley giv
ing a report of the business session.
Mrs. Isham, district treasurer for the
Foreign society, addressed the meet
ing In a short talk of Interest.
The study program, topic, "Carriers
of Life" was presented by Miss Chlr
gwln, with the following numbers:
"Threefold Furlough," Mrs. Walker;
"Retirement," Mrs. Chlrgwln: "Pre
paration and Acceptance," Miss
Phlpps; "Presenting the Christian
Message," Mrs. Holloway.
The concluding number was a song
by Mrs. Holloway, "Do Something for
Others." Hostesses, Mesdamea Kunz
man, Koppes, Koppen, McNary, served
punch and cakes during the social
period.

At the Otrls' Community club
rooms beuati fully decorated with
flowers arranged by Mrs. Berry, the
W. C. T. U. held Its annual Flower
Mission day with a good attendance.
As this was also Flag day, the
program was divided between the two
subjects. The devotional period was
led by Eleanor Todd with Helen Wll
son at tho piano. This part con
sisted of hymns, prayers and a fine
talk by the leader.
With the playing of "The Star
Spangled Banner" the second part of
the program was given, under the
leadership of Mrs. Berry. Clarabelle
Jennlnri sang very ably a, song of
"lower day. Rev. E. A. Oldenburg
gave a short talk on the flag, saying
that our organization works effect
ively toward a stainless flag.
Doris Wade, accompanied by her
mother, delighted all by two very
fine violin numbers. Mrs. Blgler gave
two beautiful readings, which
were
much appreciated. .
At the buslnrAs aeaslcii further
plans were made for the rummage
and baked food sale to be held June
33 and 93. A county Institute will
be held In the Llthla park in Ash
land July 14.
Mrs. Russell had a birthday this
same day so she was surprised with
a beautiful cake. Refreshments were
served and the social waa enjoyed by
all. Flowers were then taken to a
number of people who were 111.

Tucker, was the Inspiration for a
surprise shower Thursday evening,
given at her home on Peach street
by the young ladles of the First Bap
tist church, all being members of
Mrs A. J. Anderson's Sunday school
class.

evening and Mrs. Shaffer was pre

prayer led by Mrs. Hague.

with the Baptist church vacation
Bible school. She gave an Inspira
tional talk and everyone appreciated
her presence.
The secretary read two letters from
missionaries, one from Kodlak, Alas
ka, and the other from China. Roll
call was answered with a verse of
scripture or a current event. Mrs.
Dally then talked on the topic "The
Friendly Doors."
An Interesting little skit portraying
an African wedding was presented by
the missionary committee, of which
Mrs. R. L. Hague Is the chairman.
A report on the Baptist convention
in Portland waa given by Mrs. Daily.
This waa followed by a duet number,
"Fishing for the Lord" sung by Mrs.
Ralph Raymond and her son Bobby.
The closing prayer waa given by Dr.
Eva Carlow.
Economics Club Meets
At Central Point
The Home Economics club of the
Central Point Grange will meet on
Wednesday afternoon, June 37, at the"
the home of Mrs. Robert Hague. A
good attendance is desired.
League Dramatic Club
To Present Comedies
The Epworth League Dramatic club
of the First M. E. church Is prepar
ing three comedies to be given Fri
day, June 39. The plays have all
been cast and each one has had at
least one practice.
"Apostrophe In Modern Dress", by
Warren Beck, has a cast of four and
is being directed by Mildred Walker.
"A Weakness for Nurses," by Edna
Hlggins Strachan, has a cast of five
and Is being directed by Mrs, R. P.
Mortensen. "Call It a Day," by
Manta S. Graham, has a cast of six
teen and is being directed by Ross
Knotts.
Mrs. A. S. Short has charge of the
costumes for the last play.
The costs Include a large number
of the members of the Epworth
League. Members of "Apostrophe In
Modern Dress," are Charles Napoleon
Brown, a clerk, Andy Sever son; J. J.
Horsoff, president of the concern,
Howard Poffenbarger; Miss Meadows,
a stenographer, Helen Power; and
Fannie, a colored scrub woman, Jan
ette Trill. Howard Poffenbarger and
Janette Trill will be remembered for
the excellent portrayals they gave In
"The Lost Church," a short while ago.
Members of "A Weakness for
Nurses," are Miss Harding, head
nurse, Josephine Power; Mary
O'Leary, a nurse, Eleanora Poffenbar
ger; Marmaduke Brownleigb, a pa

Served Book Club
At Friday Session
Mrs. E. N. Vilm entertained mem
bers of her book club Friday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert
Hart, 3430 Hlllcrest road, with a 1
o'clock luncheon.
As France was the country being
studied by the group, the luncheon
was served In French style, In an at
tractive manner. Mrs. W. B. Robin
son gave a review on "French Condi
tions of Today" and Mrs. E. H. Por
ter read some adaptable articles from
Time.
Guests present for the meeting
were Miss Flora Ross of Decatur, 111.,
and Miss Ada Ross of Chicago, house
guests of Mrs. R. W. Sleeter.

Mlsa Joan DeLosh, daughter of Mrs.
Guy W. Phetteplace. will leave here
early this week, for a month'a vaca
tion In Portland and Washington
points.
In Portland, she will be the hduae
guest of Miss Audrey Coons. Mlsa
DeLosh then plana to continue to
Aberdeen, Wash., where ahe will
spend two weeks with her grand
mother, Mrs. Clara DeLosh.
Mrs. DeLosh and Miss DeLosh will
go to Seattle, to visit Miss Virginia
Hansen, who attended St. Helen's
hall In Portland when Miss DeLosh
was a student at the school. Mlsa
Hansen is now a Junior at the Uni
versity ot Washington.

Mrs. Robert Dunham of Chicago
arrived In Medford on the Sha.t
Friday forenoon from Burllngame,
Cal., to spend some time here visit
ing her brother, Frank Preston, of
Applegate.
Her step-daughter, Mra. Clough,
who la also a guest In Medford, la
visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Blsck at
their lodge on Rogue river. Mrs. Dun
ham will be a guest of Mrs. Black
before returning to her home.
