by physicians of the New VorK

reported In "fit physical condl.
tlon" for the IB-round heavy
weight championship fight In
Madison Square Garden howl
Thursday night.
NEW VORK, June H. (AP) Prin'
clpals In the maddest pre-flght de
velopments In the annals 01 the ring,
Prlmo Camera and Max Baer found
themselves summoned before the
New York state athletlo commission
: for another physical examination to-
' day.
1 No longer ago than last Friday tbey
: were pronounced In excellent condl
tlon and fully able to :ight 15 rounds
for the heavyweight championship on
Thursday night but another thorough
once-over by commission physicians
was prescribed aa a precautionary
measure.
Meanwhile the promoters were vlr.
tually hysterical as they sought to
offset reports that Baer was out of
. condition and that Camera not only
was In grave danger of going stale
but also was actually 111.
Jimmy Johnson and hla Madison
Square Garden associates heaved a
, sigh of relief as Baer wound tip train
. lng with another clownish exhibition
' at Asbury Park yesterday, but found
something else to worry about In de
velopments at Pompton Lakes, where
huge Prlmo spent the day in bed.
Mystery so thick you could cut it
with a. knife cloaked the champion's
whereabouts, his condition, his health
and everything concerning him for a
. good part of the day. Finally it be
came known that he had spent the
entire morning, afternoon and even
. lng In bed. - Hla manager, Louis So
rest, said Prlmo was so close to the
edge he was In danger of falling over
and was suffering from a slight cold
and sinus trouble. The champion.
Cor?! explained, was a mere shadow
at 367 pounds and a day In bed had
been recommended to bring him up
:to his normal fighting poundage of
around 280.
"Thla postponement talk," said Col,
John B. Klrkpatrlck, president of the
'.Garden, "already has cost us about
100,000, or 30 per cent of the (500,
000 the match should have drawn.'

Jim Jeffries, former heavyweight
champion of the world, bellevea Prlmo
Camera will retain his title when he
meets Max Baer. California challeng
er, in ft fifteen round bout in New
York Thursday night.
Jeffries, here to referee a program
of amateur bouts, claims Baer la not
good enough to be playboy and got
away with It.
"Even if Baer la In the best condi
tlon I don't think he'll punch straight
enough to hit Camera," the former
champion said, "I expect to see most
of Baer'a swings wash up harmlessly
on the big fellow's shoulders..
"Camera, X think, is a better boxer
than Baer. My only regret is tha;
they were not around 30 yeara ago."
