the possibility of a cut In the wheat
processing tax this year.
Rising price aa a result of the
drought have caused considerable
speculation here about the prospect
of a tax cut. The agricultural ad

war average price.
Dr. Rcxford O. Tugwell, acting sec
retary of agriculture, pointed out to
day, however, that the tax for this
year'a crop waa fixed , ily after a
careful study of the p..ce situation
and possible trends.
Other officials pointed out that
the wheat price Increase It compar
atively recent that the tax rate was
not changed a year ago when the
price rose rapidly and slumped In
mid-summer. The tax la set for a
long period and la not adjusted to
meet every fluctuation In prices, they
maintained.
