The Oregon Diamond Jubilee trsp-
shoottng and Bkeet tournament at
the Medford Oun club Sunday, June
3. will be the outstanding event or
the kind In Southwestern Oregon for
many yeara past. Trapshooters from
all over the atate as well a a large
deleeation from California have notl
fled the Medford club that they will
attend the ihoot. Preceding the
Oregon atate ehoot at Portland only
four days, the Medford shoot will
benefit by the attendance of many
Callfornlans en route to Portland aa
well as shooters desiring a workout
In competition before the big Port
land event,

added money to the cash purses and
will give a handsome diamond set
gold trophy emblematic of Oregon's
Diamond Jubilee whicn win De cele
brated In Medford, Jacksonville and
Ashland June 8 to 9.
Tribune Trophy Up
Among special eventa to be con
tested at the ehoot will be the Med
ford Mall Tribune fifth annual tour
nament for the Mall Tribune trophy,
the Cheater Wood handicap and the
Wood special puree; the Mendenhall
trophy and the Diamond Jubilee
grand miss and out handicap.
; The Medford club has one of the
finest skeet fields In the United
States and special akeet events with
trophies for the winners win Be con
ducted under the management of a
special akeet committee of the local
club.
Special Awards Poeted
Special trophies will be awarded
to first, second and third high guns
for O and D class shooters only on
the first SO targets In the 16-yard
event. . Award will be made under
the Shogren system, assuring the
lowest average shooter an equal op
portunity for the prizes with the
higher average shooters in tne class
lflcatlon.
The Medford Oun olub Is rated as
one of the most successful organisa
tions of the kind In the west. The
grounds are located at the north end
of the Municipal airport and are
equipped with the finest traps ob
tslnable ss well ss new modern
buildings. Shooting conditions such
ss fine eky line, and "very little wind
are natural adventagea while - con
crete stands for shooters, lawns snd
shade trees add to the attractiveness
of the grounds.

URGED TO ENTER
Local entries In Oregon's Diamond
Jubilee tennis tournament are urged
.to be made at once with H. O. Wilson,
tennis tourney chairman. The draw
Inga are scheduled for 8 o'clock Mon
day morning at the Junior high school
grounds, with games for the rest of
the dsy. Seml-flnals, both singles and
doublee, will be played June 0. and
finals on June 7. Worthwhile prises
will be awarded to all winners.
A sufficient number of courts have
been obtained to provide facilities for
sll gemes. Plsyers from Medford and
southern Oregon are especially urged
to enter. '

Medford Oun club will send a del
egation of 30 shooters to the annual
state shoot at Portland June 8, 9 and
10, to participate In the full three
day program and to Invite the trap
shooters of Oregon and the North
west to the state shoot at Medford
in 1935. .
Medford was a contender for the
1934 atate shoot at the state trap
shooters annual meeting at Klamath
Falls last year but withdrew its bid
for the 1934 shoot In favor of Port
land with the assurance of a large
majority of the cluba represented
that they would support the Med
ford club for the, 1936 shoot.
As one of the qualifying cluba for
the Oregonlan . Telegraphic shoot
trophy, Medford will be represented
by a five-man team In the shoot-off
at Portland. At the state shoot at
Klamath Palls last year, the Medford
team tied with the winning Portland
team in this event, the awsrd going
to Portland without a shoot-off,, as
two of the Medford shooters and one
of the Portland team left for home,
making a shoot-off Impractical. The
referee awarded Portland the event.
The Medford team will consist of
S. O. Mendenhall, H. Orolsant, Wil
liam Bates, Sid Newton and Bay
Coleman, with Dr. Low, Ed Pease and
E. H. Lamport qualified aa alter-
natea.
Among other shooters going to
Portland will be Oeorge Porter, O. If.
Brewer, Jr., T. B. Daniels, Fred Hull,
Oeorge Jantur and O, W. Wood.
The Medford club will hold Its
Oregon Diamond Jubilee ehoot at
Medford on Sunday, June 3, and ex
pects 100 shooters for the event.
PING PONG ATHLETE
In the ping pong tournsment con
ducted between hesdquartera detach-
ment, CCO, at the fairgrounds, and
COO men on duty at district hesd
quartera In the old city hall Wednes
day, Suwlnskl ot the headquarters
detachment was winner In the ladder
play, defeating Redden, 3-0.

Conclave Opens Sunday
The encampment officially opens
Sunday, June 3, with delegates from
the different poets registering at the
Hotel Jackson. The headquarters of
the auxiliary will be at the Hotel
Holland. Special trains will arrive
from the north at 6:39 p. m. These
will be. sidetracked and used ss
sleeping quarters during the encamp
ment. . ' . . r
At 9 p. m. Sunday memorial serv
ices will be held at the armory In
honor of departed comrades. This
memorial service la open to all vet
erans, their families, and friends and
the ritualistic work is put on by the
state officers.

Gala Event Monday
The gala event will be the banquet
Monday followed by the grand mili
tary ball at the armory, music tor
which will be furnished by Al Stew
art and his "Eleven lght Owls."
At 10 p. m. Tuesday "The Military
Order of Cooties," the . fun order of
the organization, will hold Its annual
"delousing of candidates" on Main
street and those surviving the de
louser will be declared full-fledged
members and will be allowed to
scratch for themselves.
The encampment ends Wednesday
night, giving a number of those who
have made the trip an opportunity
to stay and enjoy the festivities of
the Diamond Jubilee celebration dur
ing the balance of the week, and also
to make excursions to the scenic won
ders of southern .Oregon.

fishermen who have never taken part
In such contests before, assuring fair

An Ideal fly-casting pool has been
prepared In Bear creek just above the
Main street bridge, where eastera are

Events will Include wet and dry
fly accuracy, distance fly and dla
tance with ',-ounce plug. Thla fea
