ELKS' PICNIC DRAWS
SMALL CROWD WHEN
Rain and threatening skies curbed
attendance at the Elks picnic staged
last night at the lodge picnic grounds
on Rogue river, with only a few hun
dred enjoying the feed and fight card.
Games, an Impromptu game of kit-
tenbalt and a songfest served to en
tertain the Elka and their Invited
guests until the ring program started.
Frankle Monroe, Klamath mitt
sllnger, and Johnny Shaw, Seattle ne
gro, fought to a draw In the six-round
main event. Both men exhibited a
load of cleverness and the colored boy
was a hard target for Monroe to Mi
solidly.
A six-round seml-wlndup between
Jack Ray, Yakima, and Jebb Wilder,
of Medford stole the show. Rny had
an edge In experience and cleverness
and was given the nod by Referee
Fred Erlckson. A pair of preltml
