At swart Home
The Pythian club met at the home
of Mrs. Swarta on Berkeley Way
Tuesday and onjoyed a pot luck sup
per served on the lawn. Bridge, 800
and pinochle were in play. High
scores at bridge were held by Mrs.
Helmroth and Mr. Judge, low by Mrs.
Conrad and Bill Walden. Pinochle
high scores were held by Mrs. Bill
WBlden and H. O. Wortman, low by
Mrs. Baker. Five hundred high score
went to J. Harvey Cook. The next
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs. T. Judge on Bast Main, Tuesday,
June 13.

Gives Surprise Tarty
Mistletoe club met Wednesday
with Neighbor Clara Hodgklne at her
home and from there preceded to the
suburban home of Neighbor Marie
ftownlng for a surprise party.
Covered dish luncheon waa enjoyed
at noon. Following a ahort business
session, the afternoon waa pleasantly
spent In various forms of entertain
ment. Twenty-four member and
seven visitors enjoyed the event.
Refreshments were served by
Neighbor Clara Hodgklns and her
committee. Nelghbora Frelda Kings
ley and Alice Lewis.

Past Noble Oranda club met on
Wednesday evening for a special
meeting at the home of Mrs. Kate
Laidley, on West Second atreet. The
gathering was called by the president
to grant money to the delegates to
Rrsnd lodge conducted 'in Tillamook
last week.
Plans were also completed for the
cooked food sale, which the organisa
tion la sponsoring at the Reliable
Orocery on Saturday June 9.

last week with a card party, bridge

Sixth Grade Class
Presents Plays At
Circle's Last Meet
Two lovely plays were presented
Friday, at the Roosevelt Home and
School Circle's lsat meeting of the
year, by the graduating class ot
thlrty-slx members, whose names ap
psar In the casts.
Cinderella In nower Land", a
colorful operetta, was presented by
Mlsa Eleanor Curry as director. Tne
operetta ahowed that much Interest
had been taken In Its production by
the cast and director,
Miss Helen Williams accompanied
at the piano.
The first scene snowed tne presen
tation of Prince Sunshine's Invitation
to the May day ball. In the second,
Grandmother Nature sent Daisy
(Cinderella) to the prince's ball. The
May Day bill waa the point of Inter
est In scene 3, which was broken up
by the entrance of the Rain Drops.
In scene 4 the prince chooses his
bride by placing the traditional slip
per upon Cinderella.

Mr. and Mrs. H. D. McCsekey, who
have been vacationing In San Fran
cisco and Pacific Grow, Calif., dur
ing the past week, returned to Med
ford Friday morning on the Shasta.

Washington School
Has Annual Frolic
Washington school was the scene
of a gay party Friday evening when
pupils and parents gathered for the
annual school carnival. At six o'clock
a buffet supper was served. Mrs.
stubblefleld end the committee had
oharge of this feature Which was
greatly enjoyed.
The program was In .charge of Mrs.
Clegg. The ukelele band composed
of. puplla of Noel Ersklne gave four
numbers. The Boy Scout troop gave
a dance number and a vocal number
with guitar and harmonica accom
paniment. Mrs. Nlckell, a newcomer
In Medford gave two old time vocal
numbera.
.An amusing playlet, "Out of the
Attic" was given by Ray Henderson,
Miss Gladys Conder and Leila Hen
deraon of the Junior high school.
An hour's fun followed and all
were given an opportunity to patron
ize booths. The fish pond waa in
charge of Mrs. Ramon; candy, Mrs.
Jones; noise makers, Mrs, Wesley Cof
feen: loe cream and pop, Mrs. Dixon
and games, Mrs. Thurman. .
Mrs. Carl Bennett, who was general
chairman of the affair, wishes to ex
press her gratitude to all the parent
who assisted, also the Medford Ice &
Storage.

Recreation Rooms -The
Girls' Community club
has
opened recreation rooms at the Y.
M. O. A. building on North Bartlett.
which will be open to all business
girls of the city. A dining room has
also been opened, and will serve those
who wish to Bpend their noon hours
at the club.

Mrs. Harry Prentice had aa house
guests the past week, Mrs. Guy Rog
ers, Mrs. John Dutton and Mrs. W.
H. Patterson, all of Portland. Mra.
Rogera and Mrs. Dutton attended the
P. E. O. convention on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday.
The three left Saturday morning

Mothers' Club Plans
Reception for Graduates
Mothers' club of the Sacred Heart
church, Catholic, met Friday for des
sert luncheon with Mrs. Barnum at
her home on Grape atreet. The pres
ident, Mrs. Devaney, appointed com
mittees to make plans for the re
ception ot graduates from St, Mary's
academy. The reception will be held
on June 4, at the parish hall, fol
lowing the graduation exercises.

District Rally Here
The Bsptlat Young People's onion
is making preliminary arrangement
for the annual district rally In Med
ford, June 3. An unusually large
representation la expected from all
group In the district, because It will
occur on the opening day of Oregon's
Diamond Jubilee.
Members from Grants Pass, Ash
land, Klamath Falls, eelma, Kerby
and Brookings will be here for the
rally. All members of the local group
are urged to be at the church at the
regular meeting at 7:00 o'clock to
night In order that final arrange

Mrs. Elsie Carleton Strang, direc
tor for the choir which will sing
Sunday evening, June S at the open
ing church service of ' the Oregon
Diamond Jubilee at the fairgrounds,
has announced that the second re
hearsal will be held on Monday eve
ning, at 8:00 o'clock in the Presby
terian church here.
The Elks band, under the direction
of T. Wilson Wait, which will play
the accompaniment for the choir,
will also be at the practice.
- There were 90 singers At- the Thurs
day evening rehearsal. Mrs. Strang
said yesterday, but she urged other
singers in the valley who were not
present last week, to be at the Mon
day rehearsal.
"We need at leflst 150 voices for
the choir," Mrs. Strang said, "and
all singers, whether affiliated with
a church choir, or not, are urged
to attend rehearsal and take part in
the singing."
Those who have copies of the music
being used for the service, are re
quested to bring it to the rehearsal
tomorrow evening.
Mrs. Strang was well pleased with
the singing Thursday.

St. Mary's academy, were entertained
with a bridge party Wednesday ew-
ning'by the Mlasea Helen McDonnell
and Martha DeSouza at the latter's
home. High scores were held by

Changes Meeting Day
St. Mark's Guild will meet on
Thursday this week, Instead of Fri
day with Mrs. F. O. Relmer at her

On Monday Evening '
Tomorrow evening at the Baldwin
Piano shop the Jackson County
Teachers chorus will give a concert
In the form of a song cycle, entitled
"Spring's Awakening." by Grieg. The
presentation will include solos, duets,
and a sextet.
Solos will be sung by Mlsa Eleanor
Curry, soprano, and Mrs. Richard C.
Mulholland, contralto. Mrs. Effle
Herbert Yeoman Is accompanist, and
Miss Harriet Baldwin, director.
No charge is being made for the

The council of the Women's Mis
sionary Federation of Medford met
at the home of the president, Mrs.
deorge P. Ka.be le Monday afternoon.
May 31. A tentative constitution was
drawn to have Its first reading at
the September rally meeting of the
federation, and Its final reading and
adoption at the World Day of Prayer
next February.
The fall rally meeting of the fed
eration will be Friday afternoon, Sep
tember 28, and the Baptist Mission
ary society will be the hostess group.
The missionary society of the First
Christian church will present the
program.
The president appointed members
of the two standing committees, lit
erature, Mrs. W. H. Caulklns and
press, Mra. A. J, Hanby.
