Dazzling Musical
...Si
Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire's
frolics and dancing and singing In
'Flying Down to Rio," musical aerial
extravaganza, provide the comedy
highlights. Dolores Del Rio, Gene
Raymond and Raoul Roullen are lh
romantic roles.
Tapping virgin territory for back
grounds, "Flying Down to Rio," which
opened at the Stut ' theater this
afternoon, provides really a show
within a show, supplying besides novel
entertainment, scenic spectacles
worthy of admiration on their own
merits.
In addition to this some of the
most startling settings in film history
were prepared for the musical ex
travaganza. One such setting was
a night club covering 22,500 feet of
floor space and built like the interior
of a dirigible, with dining tables
made of airplane tails, spooners nooks
like dirigible cabins, and a flying
orchestra which floated over the
heads of diners and dancers in a bal
loon basket!
