MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGON, THURSDAY, MAY. 3, 3931.
DRINK 'MATTE' TO
BE RETAILED HERE
Word has just ben received that
L. P. Iranhoe, well known resident
of Medford for many years, now lo
cated In Rio de Janeiro, has ship
ped to Medford a large consignment
of Matte, for local distribution. The
shipment, consisting of over a ton
of this South American product, left
Rio on April 2nd on the Mccormick
Line steamer "West Nllus," consigned
to Medford, via Portland,
The Matte Is expected to reach
Medford before the end of May, and
Its local distribution will probably
start early In June.
Mr. Ivanhos writes: "Matte (pro
nounced 'Matty") Is a product of
South America which should be made
available to the people of southern
Oregon and elsewhere due to Its,
acknowledged excellent qualities.
Matte Is a refreshing tea-like drink
made from the leaves of a small
tree which grows In South America.
Matte possesses roal virtues as a
staple article of diet for everyone.
Matte Is not a patent medicine nor
a fad, but Is Just an Ideal everyday
household drink for all, being equal
ly pleasant as a refreshing drink
either hot or Iced.
"It has been successfully used for
nunoreds of years by millions of peo
ple. We have used matte In large
quantities as a dally drink for years
with splendid results for the entire
family. We will continue to use matte
permanently, Just as long as we can
obtain It.
. -we are glad to be the first to
Introduce matte to southern Oregon.
snowing many people there will ap
preciate Its being available locally
a a reasonable price, and hope the
quantity sent In thla first -hlpment
will be sufficient to permit those
really Interested In determining Its
merits to give It a few months' trial.
"Matte Is nothing new. It was used
. before the discovery of America, and
In the countries of Its origin la the
dally household drink of millions of
people today. Just as It was centuries
ago. It has held Its own and Its use
is constantly Increasing wherever It
becomes well known. It has stood
the test of centuries In South Amer
ica, which Is the most convincing
argument in Its fsvor, excepting, of
course, an actual trial over a short
period or time. Matto makes Its own
jrienas quickly. .
"Books have been written on the
virtues of matte. Some of the most
extravagant claims I have ever
heard of are made for matte. I do
not believe them all, of course, but
observation at elose ranee nv.r
long period of time has brought me
to the conclusion that matte evi
dently aids somehow those who are
Interested in reialnln better health
or In retaining the good health they
jjuiwrai. ano mat it must be good
for those who so consistently use
it as a dally drink or they would
quit Itl" .
in closing Mr. Ivanhoe states: "I
arink matte because I actually like
it better than any other table drink.
Its aromatlo flavor la delicious. There
Is no question that It Is refreshing,
relieves fatigue, and has no bad ef
fects. It should be used by evory
one. Matte la good . for those who
do hard mental work matte Is good
for those who do hard physical work
and matte Is also good for those
who do not work at all I The matte
