Music and Dance Feast
Promised Medfordites
Great Interest is already evident in
the valley in the coming concert of
music and the dance to be given here
two weeks from tomorrow night at
the high school auditorium by Fran
ces Mullen, pianist, and Dorothy
Wagner, interpretive dancer, in con
nection with the much anticipated
spring concert of the Medford Glee
men. Dorothy Wagner, for three years a
member of the Metropolitan Opera
ballet, attracted the attention of
John Murray Anderson, through her
beauty and grace, winning a place as
specialty dancer in the fourth edition
of Irving Berlin's Music Box Revue,
where she soon became a popular fa
vorite with the New York public.
Following over three years of work
under Mr. Anderson's direction, she
was engaged for a tour of continen
tal Europe, which included several
-appearances in Paris, where she was
enthusiastically acclaimed, ad m nee
press dispatches reveal. On her re-
jturn to California, she was engaged
by tne Hoiiywooa sow. association
to present four dance solos on their
summer symphony program.
Frances Mullen, who has intro
duced many hitherto unknown works
to the musical world of California,
recently became the storm center of
an artistic controversy which raged
over the "Six Little Piano Pieces" of
Schoenberg and a Bartok Sonata
which she presented at a Los Angeles
concert. Both these works will be
presented at the concert In this city.
With such recommendations pre
ceding their arrival here, the concert
of the two visiting artists, to whom
half the evening's program will be
devoted, Is expected to draw all lovers
of music and dancing from various
sections of the valley to Medford
May 14.
The program to be presented by
the Glcemen, who need no Introduc
tion, will be announced in the near
future through the director, James
Stevens,
