United States civil service commis
sion has announced that open, com
petitive examinations for the position
of chief of survey party (mountain
road location), applications to be on
file with the manager. Eleventh TJ.
S. civil service district, 450 Federal
Office building, Seattle, not later
than April 37.
The examination Is for filling such ;
positions now vacant !n Washington
and Oregon. Competitors will not be
required to report for examination at
any place, but will be rated on their
experiences and fitness.
Open competitive examinations
have also been announced for several
other positions, on which additional
information may be obtained from
Earl H. York, secretary of the United
States civil service board of examin
ers at the post office.
The other positions Include:
Storekeeper-gauger. bureau of In
dustrial alcohol, treasury department
$2,000 to $3,500 a year. Applicants
will be rated on the subject of men
tal tests. Including questions In ele
mentary physics.
Junior forester, $3,000 to $3,600 a
year, Junior range examiner, $2,000 to
$2,600 a year, forest service depart
ment of agriculture.
Rubber stamp maker, $1,680 a year,
office of national parks, buildings
and reservations, department of the
interior, 'Washington, D. C. Appli
cants must have had at least two
years of experience in making and
mounting rubber stamps.
All salaries named above are sub
ject to a 10 per cent deduction until
June 30, 1934, and to a deduction
of not to exceed 6 per cent there
after, as a measure of economy, in
addition to a deduction of Z per
cent toward retirement annuity.

the top of Timber mountain April 19,
