, WASHINGTON, April 14. (AP) A
review of the legislative situation
with a view to laying out a defin
ite route to early congressional ad
journment was undertaken today by
President Roosevelt. ,
First comers for' the talk at the
White House were the chairmen of
most of the Important senatorial
committees. With them the president
went over the list of legislation that
Is before.' their committees for action.
Tomorrow a similar group from the
house will visit him.
Out of the list of measures before
these committees was to come a
drastically shortened tabulation of
bills which - administration leaders
will press to enactment. Several bills
before congress were drafted .to fit
presidential desires but some of them
have undergone" considerable altera
tlon since they went to Capitol Hill.
Chief famong these is the stock
exchange control bill. Awaiting ac
tion, - also, are the communications
and cpmmodlty exchange regulatory
bills. There Is still a clamor for sti
ver legislation, for relief to depositors
In closed banks, and for refinancing
farm mortgages. The fate of these
measures may be decided at the
White House conferences.
