The following news Item which ap
peared recently in the Fall River Tid
ings, published In Shasta, county,
California, la of special significance
to southern Oregon people who are
Inclined to buy merchandise from
hawkers:
"Two gangs of peddlers plying
their trade In this section were ar
rested and brought before Judge P.
M. Calllson In justice court last Sat
urday night and fined 50 each for
manufacturing and peddling 'extracts'
which were found to be only colored
water. Many local residents, it la
said, fell a prey to the tempting bait
offered by the peddlers. Our mer
chants handle the best goods, backed
by a refund of price paid if goods
are not satisfactory. Bargains offered
by traveling peddlers generally prove
worthless. Trade with merchants you
know Is the only profitable way, and
you are always assured of a square
deal."

John Boles and Spencer Tracy are
rivals in love with "Pat" Paterson.
charming English comedienne, in the
romantic comedy. "Bottoms Up."
coming to the Craterian theater on
Sunday for three days. Aiding and
abetting the comedy are Herbert Mun
din. Sid Silvers and Harry Green.
And Thelma Todd makes the plot
complete as the vlllalness.
"Bottoms Up" Is essentially a ro
mance. But worked logically Into ths
story are several opportunities for
John Boles and Miss Paterson to sing.
There are four song hits in the pic
ture, "Bottoms Up." "Waiting at the
Gate for Katy." "Turn on the Moon."
"Little Did I Dream" and 'I'm Thow
ln My Love Away."
The story, briefly, deals with the
efforts of three merry rogues and a
girl with movie ambitions to crash
the golden gates of Hollywood. And
when they succeed, the girl finds
herself actually falling In love with
the hero of her first movie. The re
sulting complications lead to an un
usual climax.
WILD HORSE STAR
OF ROXIE WESTERN
"King of the Wild Horses." which
comes to the Roxy theater tomor
row, and dealing with the Navajo In
dians, Is unique among motion pic
tures for the fact that not one single
scene was photographed Inside the
atudlo and not one process or trick
shot waa used in the entire film.
The star Is Hex, the famous wild
stallion, heading a band of 2000 wild
horses corralled on on the Arizona
mesas, with William Janney, Doro
thy Appleby and Wallace McDonald
in the supporting cast, in addition
to thousands of Navajo and Hopl Indians.
It la claimed to have caught the
open spirit and dash of Indian life
accurately. A fatal fglht between
Rex and a mountain lion is one of
the high spots of the film which
promises action throughout.
Rialto Star
Reginald Owen, as the famous Sher
lock Holmes, solves the deep mys
teries surrounding a gang of thieves
and cutthroats in "A Study in Scar
let," at the Rialto theater today and
Saturday.
On the same program, Bob Steele Is
starred in "The Gallant Fool." an
action story of the circus daredevils
and western badmcn.
