when Bob Kruse. Oewego farmer, .ap
pears at the armory against Charlie
Hansen, stoical Seattle Dane, In a
one-hour match. Billy Newman of
Denver and Ed Helwig of California
will match grips In the other half
of the double malt, event card pro
moted by Mack LUlard.
Kruse never falls to provide a show
when his name appears on a wrest
ling bill and, tame or tough, he
usually takes his opponents by one
means or another. In .his match to
night the Oswcgan will be tackling
one of the biggest, roughest and
toughest muscle stretchers In the
racket. Hansen has been seen In ac
tion here several times and has made
a specialty of handing his opponents
plenty of misery, w.hen the two got
together tonight the cash customers
are promised a hammor-and-tongs
brawl that will keep tbem on the
eat edge throughout.

Generally picked as the club to beat
in the 1934 Coast league pennant race,
Los Angeles today was the only unde
feated team In the olrcult as the sea
son entered Its third day.
It was on an error that the Angels
scored a 10th Inning run to defeat
the Portland Ducka, 6 to 4, after Ed
Bryan, Beaver pitcher, had hit a
homer In the nlnth Inning to tie the
score. In the last naif of the tenth
Dlttmar grounded to third. Sheoly,
Beaver catcher, let English's throw
roll through him and Demaree scored
the winning run. All four of Port
land's runs resulted from homers,
Blackerby and Cot each connecting In
the seventh, the "latter with one on
base.
After bowing to Seattle In the open
ing day's upset, the San Francisco
Seals came back yesterday to defoat
the Indians, 7 to 3.
A circuit clout In the ninth Inning
gave Oakland a to 4 victory over
Hollywood.
Another home run was responsible
for Sacramento's 3 to a wtn over the
San Francisco Missions. Leo Osten

Annual Tourney for Slice and
Hook Artists Will Attract

Divots will fly hign Saturday after
noon when the annual duffers' golf
tournament opens on the Rogue Val
ley links. The tourney will cover 10
days but will not Interfere with regu
lar golf games as contestants are ex
pected to be spending most of their
time In the rough and In traps, sav
ing wear and tear on the fairway.
Over 60 entrants are expected to
take part In the big event, attract
ing the poorest of the bast golfers
In the west, representing over 80 per
oent of golfdom today. Cups of un
usual beauty will be awarded the
winners of each class, but permanent
possession is possible for a golfer only
after having won for 30 consecutive
years.
Fines for Winner.
Winner of the dubs class, open for
golfers who hover around the 100
mark, will receive the largest cup,
but upon winning it must also pay
a fee of 93, while the champ of the
duffers who putters around 96, must
pay $2. The Walker, Ryder, Western
Open and National Amateurs' cups
mean nothing to the local disciples
of the tees when competition begins
for these prizes.
The earnest knights of the fairway,
whose sllclnga and bookings have
made golf Infamous, can never hope
to gain glory out of making a low
score It means pennies out of their
pockets. Should a dub make 06, he is
assessed two-bits, in addition to a
dime apiece for 97, 98, and 99, making
66c, and should he be so unlucky as
to turn In 95, a dollar more Is tacked
onto the overhead of the day.
The same holds true for the duf
fers. A dime apiece for 95, 94, 93, and
93 gets them digging Into pockets.
Then comes 25c for 91 and a dollar
for 90, but worst of all there Is a
five dollar 'threat for 89. A complete

day. Old Fend Continues,
One of the Interesting matches of
the day is expected between George
Nlelson and Doe Elliott, who are said i
to be still playing on last year's
tourney. . A twelve-month ago they
played three mornings and didn't
complete the first nine. Then there
Is the defending dub champion, Rob
ert Ruhl, who has been working out
for days In anticipation of the chance
to show the local boys he has not
been called "champ" In vain. P. Reum,
the Canadian champ, will add aome
fancy touches to the tourney, while
Jlmmle Valentine, the dark horse of
all the entries, will show how easy
it is to make one stroke with the left
hand and the other with the right.
Dubs Train Hard.
Many evenings have found Walter
Leverette and George Hunt In the
traps and in the rough looking for
balls and masterfully digging up di
vots, especially the former, who once
dug over six Inches before the ball
would meet his club. A. 8. Rosenbaum
has been In training for five years
while George Codding has been at it
almost as long. Jerry Jerome will
heft a mighty stick against Ole Alen
derfer, while Mack LUlard will be
showing Olen Fa brick that sometimes
ring tricks can be used on the fair
way. In all there will be numerous hard
fought contests before the champions
will emerge from the fray, and
through it all Moore Hamilton and
E. O. Ferguson, the headline scriv
eners, will be threats until the final
ball Is sliced.

foul In the third fall of a feature
wrestling match with Jack Foragren,
Vancouver, B. C, here last night. Ref
eree Verne Harrington awarded the
match to Foragren on the basis of two
low blows.
Cox took the first fall with a body
press, after flooring Forsgren re
peatedly with elbowed lefta and rights
to the head and body. Forsgren took
the second with a Boston crab.
In the third encounter, Cox began
to work on the Canadian's midriff.
Two low blows coat him the match.
Cox was escorted from the ring by a
police body guard, while Forsgren
