Ashland Elks Celehratc The Ash
land Elks lodge celebrated the twenty-ninth
anniversary of the order last
night at the temple In the Llthla city
and a number of Medford Elks at
tended the festivities. Covered dish
dinner, progrsm, cards and dancing
were enjoyed. The musical entertain.
ment was provided by the recently or
ganized Elks orchestra, the Waltz
Queens, under the direction of Law
rence Hubert. Miss Eunice Hager en
tertained with a solo and Mrs. Alelta
Lear with whistling numbers.

Organisation of a, Veterans' Allied
Council of Jackaon county was per
fected here thlt week at a meeting
at Carold J. Parker's plant March 31,
The purpose of the organization Is
to promote the unified action of all
groups -on veteran affairs, and to
create harmony and good will among
all veteran organizations In the
county.
Commander Carold J. Parker of the
D. A. V. was elected chairman of the
council by unanimous vote and Ar
thur E. Salleee was chosen secre
The fourth Wednesday of each
month the organization will meet In
the Medford armory. A special meet
ing .has been called for April 11, at
which four members of each veter
erans' organization will act on the
council.
The organization will place before
the people the need of the disabled
veteran.

"Orient Express," with a cast that
features seven stars, has been chosen
as the extra feature on the Craterlan
theatre's "Preview Night" showing
Saturday etr the regular program.
The story concerns itself with a
dancer, hungry and looking for work;
a wealthy young merchant, who falls
in love with the dancer; a Cockney
Englishman, under the thumb of his
domineering wife; a thief, fleeing
from Justice; a beautiful girl, thirst
ing for love: and a woman reporter,
seeking to uncover the plans of a
powerful Communist leader. All are
aboard the Orient Express, each head.
Ing for his own particular destination.
The unusual events that occur aboard
the train form the basis of the plot.

Ladles' Aid society of the Phoenix
Presbyterian church will celebrate
their 25th anniversary Saturday
evening, March 24, with a covered
dish dinner at 6:30. The committee
In charge will serve the dessert and
coffee. Guests are asked to bring a
covered dish and sliver offering,
A program will be given at the
table, Including a short historical
resume of the activities of the Ladles'
Aid covering the period of five years.
There will also be reminiscences by
charter members of the group. All
members and friends of the church
and Ladles' Aid are invited.
