of Dead Indian Springs la a guest In
the valley of her mother, Mrs. Delia,
Dodge, of Med ford, this week while
recuperating from an operation for
removal of her tonsils.
Lodge to Meet The Theosophlcal
lodge will have an open meeting

clock, at the home of Florence Graves.

Returns from Portland Ira J. Ma
son, assistant supervisor of the Rogue
River national forest, has returned
here from a business trip to Port
' land. His transfer to offices in that
city, haa temporarily been delayed.
Ordered to Medfnrd First Lieuten
ant Buford Emory Boyd, Infantry re
. serve, of Walla Walla, Wash., haa been
ordered to Med ford for duty with the
OCC. He is expected to report to dis
trict headquarters here next Thurs
day or Friday.
Case Continued The case of Elmer
H. Hastings, arrested Friday by state
police for not having a PUO permit,
waa continued in Justice of the Peace
W. R. Coleman'a court here yesterday,

ford yesterday, and also attended the
annual meeting of the Keene creek
cattle association, which met at the
Nell creek school house. Business per
taining to grazing permits waa dis
cussed. Sentenced to 30 Days William A.

week, waa sentenced to thirty days in
Jail by Justice of the Peace E. W.
Madison at Grants Paes yesterday.
Wilson was charged with stealing

Issue Marriage License A marriage
license was issued during the week
to Clair Iven Ramus. 27 of Medford
and Mary Elizabeth Thomson, 27, of
Eagle Point. Ramus, a native of
Washington, listed his occupation as
a laborer. Miss Thomson Is a native
of Michigan.
Issue Bounty Warrants Bounty
warrants Issued Saturday at the coun
ty clerk's office Included $3 to Carl
Coblelgh for one bob cat, $6 to James
L. O'Donahue of Butte Falls for one
coyote and one bob cat, and $9 to W.
A. Cox of Ashland for two coyotes
and one bob cat.
Received No Magazine A report
waa made to city police Friday after
noon that a local housewife gave a
magazine salesman fifty cents, far
which he was to bring her back a
copy of the magazine to which se
had subscribed. He failed to return
with the magazine, she stated.
Elppan Retired Ranger Jess BIgan
of this city, formerly of Klamath
Falls, where he was in charge of the
Klamath Falls district for the Rogue
River national forest, has been retired,
on account of a disability resulting
from an accident occurring on road
construction work several years ago.

waa In Medford yesterday transacting
business. Lewis Kuael of Ruch was
also a caller as were Densel Mlddel
busher of Trail and Alec Walton of
Phoenix.
Arrested In Ashland Harry Gonye,
24. alias Harry Meyer, of New York,
la being hnld in the county Jail
awaiting hla appearance in Justice
court at Ashland Monday, before Jus
ttoe of the Peace U A. Roberts, on
charges of vagrancy. Gonye allegedly
secured money in Medford and Ash
land on pleas of sympathy, and ac
quaintance with mutual friends.
Lowman Coming Monday Jennlnga
D. Lowman, sub-station manager for
the United States Recruiting office,
will atjaln be in Medford Monday and
Tuesday of this week. Sergeant Low
man stated In his announcement that
he did not know definitely what as
signments will be open, but it Is ex
pected that vacancies In the air corps
and the signal corns will be filled.

Falco of Disham, Wash., was cited
Into Justice court at Ashland March
14, following his arrest Friday by
state police. Schlffner was charged
with operating the truck without
PUC plates. Ho carrfed a receipt from
the Public Utilities commission, for
$34.14, which stated that he was not
privileged to operate the tnick until
the plates had been issued.
Purchase Ranch Mr. and Mrs. J.
B. Thompson, who recently returned
to the United States from Norway,
have purchased the S. H. Bender prop
erty near Central Point, and have
taken possession of the place. The
Thompsons wrote the Southern Ore
son Realty company last fall while
touring Europe, that they planned to
come to this section upon returning1
to' America. The deal was transacted
through the Southern Oregon Realty
company. The Bender place Is said to
he one of the nicest garden tracts in
this section.

of Medford la a patient at the Com
munity hospital for medical care this
week.

General Electric Party Members of
the General Electric ataff in the

He Wasn't Stealing The newspaper
representative, who stopped a very
young member of the younger set
Friday upon his exit from a local store
with a large footrest in hand, found
later that he wasn't stealing. Just
making use of the thing. Told to take
it back, he ignored her remark, walk
ed on down the street to a drinking
fountain, set the foot rest down,
climbed up on it, had his drink, nd
turned around ana took it back to
the store, where his mother, rather
aghast, greeted him with several reprimands.

pletion of the ski Jump at Govern
ment Camp In Crater Lake National
Park In preparation for tha second
annual Crater Lake Winter Sports
carnival in the park next Sunday.
