financial assistance, will be made
available to approximately two per
cent of the graduates of Oregon high
schools who rank In the upper third
of their elsasea.
Tl:la was one of the points agreed
upon here Monday at the regular
March meeting of the atate board of
higher education.
The board voted, too. to increase
the aalartes of the the football coaches
at University of Oregon and Oregon
state college, and a cooperative plan
of adult education Involving the atate
universities of Oregon, Washington
and California, and the respective
State Federations of Labor, waa ap
proved. To Work With School,.
In furthering cooperation betwwa
the higher educational Institutions
and the high achoola of the atate,
the board provided for a definite plan
of high school visitation looking to
ward a permanent plan which would
represent the entire system in offer
ing edncatlonal counseling service. At
first this will be on an emergency
basis. Later, one or two men will be
retained to carry on the work.
The allotment of 93.400 with which
to alter the art museum at the uni
versity as requeated by Mrs. Gertrude
Bass Warner,- donor, waa approved,
and currlcular change and additions,
moatly of a minor nature, were rati
fied. Pees will remain the same as this
year except for an adjustment at the
medical school and an Increase of a
a month in university dormitory

Increases In the salaries of Coach
Prince o. Calllson of the university,
and Alonro L. Stlner at the college,
will be met by atudent athletic funda,
Calllson will receive 8.000 a year,
effective February 1, and Stlner, coach
at O. S. O. for only one year, will
receive M.soo year, effective July 1. '
They have been receiving M.138 each.
They are to be retained on a year-to-year
basis, a are other faculty mem
bers. E. A. Stevens of Salem was ap
pointed regular crew coach at Oregon
State and will act on half-time
basis from April I to June 15. Stev
en, former Cornell crew coach, haa
heretofore donated his services.
Exempt from Fees.
