On Vacation Trip Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Childers are leaving Monday by
motor for a two weeks vacation trip
to southern California. They plan to
visit friends and relatives In Fresno,
Los Angeles, San Diego and San Fran
cisco. They are returning by the coast
route.
Buys Shoe Business -Walter Sur
ber, has purchased the shoe repair
business formerly owned by Mr
Woods at 122 No. Central Ave., op
posite the City Meat Market, It was
announced yesterday, Mr. Surber has
been employed at the Blden Shoe Shop
for the past four years and is qualified

Astronomy Class Postponed The
Astronomy class for teachers has been
postponed from Wednesday, February
31, to Wednesday, February 28, n or
der to enable the members to attend
the debate on the sales tax on the
first named date.
In Medford Saturday R. R. Turner
of Dallas, candidate for congress from
first congressional district of Oregon,
was a visitor In Medfard Saturday
calling on a number of friends. Turn
er was with Judge Canon, land regis
ter of Roseburg, with whom he for
merly worked.
Bounty Warrants Issued Bounty
warrant were issued at the county
clerk's office Saturday to James L.
O'Donahue of Butte Falls for five
coyotes, 16; to Frank Decker of Ap
plegate. S12 for four bob cats; and
$3 to Harvey F. Morgan of Trail for
one coyote.
Driver Is Fined Elton Hood, 25,
OOO truck driver from Camp Elk
Creek, was fined 5 and costs of $4.50
in Justice court Friday morning, on
charges of speeding a truck. Hood was
arrested by a state police officer Wed
nesday, near Trail, said to be driving
43 miles per hour.
File Reports Mrs. Louise Bates, of
112 Laurel street, and Wm. Thos.
Powell of 824 West 13th street, filed
accident reports at the city police
station Saturday afternoon, concern
ing a collision at the corner of Laurel
street and the county courthouse at
11 a. m., yesterday.
Johnson Arrested Glen Johnson,
33, of Grants Pass, was arrested near
there the latter part of the week by
state police officers, for operating
a vehicle for profit, without a chauf
feur's license. He is scheduled to ap
pear before Justice of the Peace E.
W. Madison In that city.
Reports Made Saturday morning
Gerald Kendan of 503 Haven street,
who operates the city street cleaner,
end H. P. Bosworth Jr., of Klamath
Pa lis, filed accident report at the
city police station, concerning a col
lision on Riverside avenue at Fifth
street. The report stated that Ken
dayy made a U-turn at Fifth etreet,
without signalling. Mrs. Bosworth
was named as a witness.
Undergoes Operation Elaine Brown
underwent an operation Friday at the
Sacred Heart hospital.

sie McConochie was remo-ed from the
Sacred Heart hospital to her home
Friday, having recovered from a re
cent Illness.
Get Marriage License A marriage
license wa Issued Thursday at the
county court house to Jay James Par
rick, 24, Medford. laborer, and Rhoda
T. Keen, 33, also of Medford, who
listed her occupation as a housekeep
er. It was the second marriage for
Parrlck.
Rabbit Assn. Meets Marketing
committee of the California-Oregon
Rabbit Breeders' association with
their wives, met at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. A. C. Huson on Kings h!en-
way Sunday, and expressed enthusi
asm over prices. It was also stated at
the gathering that the demand Is far
in excess of the supply. Mr. and Mrs.
Huson have a new up-to-date rabbit-
ry, and visitors are welcome at any
time, they stated.
In From Applegate E. W. Kubll of
Applegate was a business caller in
Medford yesterday.
Nosier Fined Frits Eugene Xosler,
arrested by state polloe for having no
PUC plates, was fined tlO and cosia
of $450 when taken before Justice of
the Peace W. R. Coleman. He entered
a guilty plea. Judge Coleman gave him
a week In which to pay.
Class Meeting Planned Gleaners
Class of the First Baptist church will I
meet Tuesday afternoon at two '
clock, with Mrs. C. M. Parker for a i
business meeting. The social hour will
be In charge of Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Kel
log and Mrs. Moore.

Ketzur was hostess Tuesday to the
Ladies' auxiliary of the First Baptist
church. Devotional and scripture
were given with note on the latter
sent by Mrs. Fred Jones of Mobile.
Ala. A prayer of George Washington
was followed by prayers offered by
Mrs. B. F. Neff ami Mrs. E. E. Wilson.
Butterfly friend were requested to
send out cards. Next meeting will be
February 28 at the church, with
supper and missionary pageant.

a clipping taken from the Chicago
Tribune of February 11, regarding
Oregon's Diamond Jubilee celebration.
