SLATED TONIGHT
TbM first of the rural drum-tics
contest plays irlll be presented at the
O&Jc Grove school this evening, Feb
ruary 10, at 6 p. m. The play which
will be presented by the Oak Grove
Community club Is a. rollicking com-
edy entitled "Be a Little Cuckoo."
It la directed by Mrs. Elsie Werner,
and has a supporting cast of five
women. Several members of the
county Recreation club will also as
sist with the program, featuring com
i munlty, lead by Vaughn . Quacken
bush, of the Phoenix Grange, and
Miss Vera, Humphries, accompanist of
Medford.
Saturday evening, February 17,
three contest plays will be given. In
district 1 the Talent Grange will pre
sent "Cornfed Ba-bies" at the City
hall at 8 p. m. This one act com
edy Is directed by Mrs. Harvey Walt
ers, and will be Judged by E. A. Whit
man of Phoenix, Miss Edith Fen
wtck of Jacksonville, and Miss Faye
Woolsey, county librarian. This plsy
will compete with plays presented by
Eagle Point and Central Point
Oranges.
In district- number 9, the Jack
sonville Grange will also present
their play Saturday evening, Febru
ary 17 at 8:30 p. m. at the high
school gymnasium. The play Is a one
act drama entitled "Ambition," dir
ected by Joe Nee and will be judged
by H. P. Jewett, Central Point; Miss
Mildred Patterson, Phoenix, and Miss
Vera Humphries, of Medford. This
v Play wlll compete with the Rosy
7 Ann Grange play.
In district 8, the Applegate Ex
tension Unit will present the com
edy "Kidnaping Betty," Saturday eve
ning. February 17, at 8:30 at the
Community hall. Mrs. Dora Krauae,
director. The Judges are H. W. Kessee
of Medford, Mrs. Nadlne Goff of
Phoenix, and Mrs. Victor Bursell of
Central Point. This play la to com
pete with Bellvlew Grange, and the
Oak Grove Community club.
Mil. Wllshlre In City Mrs. Kenneth
Wllshlre of Ashland was visiting in
Medford today. Mrs. Wllshlre is re
membered as the former Ellen Mc-CleUan.

terlan theater Sunday.

tleman, who lives only In the past.
Into the sleepy, routine of his life
comes a daughter of the north who
proceeds to Inject a liveliness Into
his life that upsets all traditions of
the old south.
Stage Show Coming
To Craterian Soon
Medford Is scheduled to go Holly
wood In a couple of weeks, February
27, to be exact, when, the musical
comedy stage production "The Holly
wood Scandals" will be presented &t
the Craterian theater.
Unique In theme, the setting Is
the interior of a large motion pic
ture producing company during the
filming of a musical picture, and all
the characters. In the show, with the
exception of the chorus girls, will
be double of famous movie stars.
Some of the more humorous Incidents
which arise during "shooting" are to
be included In the show.
The entire cast and choruses will
be composed of local people and
several applications have already been
made by local "doubles" who are

they will be able to portray the parts
successfully. .
