She had also served on the Bible Lesson-Committee.
In her resignation,
Mrs. Knott said she had a "desire for
leisure In which to gain more of the
spirit of Christian Science, and to aid
others In doing the same In larger
measure. This does not Imply any
lack In my experience In Christian
Science, for the assurance of the
power of divine truth as gained from
the Bible and the inspired teaching
of Mrs. Eddy has become a certainty.
I would, however, press on to realize
more fully the love that 'never fall

C. 8. B., late of Sewlckly, Penn., who
Is well and favorably known among
Christian Scientists the world over as
a Christian Science lecturer and for
merly field representative of The
Christian Science Publishing Society,

In this country and abroad. Mrs.
Ritchie also comes to her new work
with experience as a Christian Science
practitioner and teacher.
CCC EDUCATIONAL
PLANS OUTLINED
FOR EARLY STAR!
With announcement by the federal
government that educational classes
are to be conducted in all of the CCC
companies throughout the country,
J. B. Grlfflng of San Bernardino, ap
pointed tn charge of the camps of
the Ninth corps area, has already out
lined plans for the work, according
to Information received at district
headquarters in Medford.
Mr. Grlfflng Is a graduate of Drake
university, has a master's degree from
Columbia university and has taken
graduate work at the University of
Southern California.
All educational advisors will be se
lected by the officers In Washington,
D. C, and local headquarters detach
ment will have no part In naming
the Instructors,
Not waiting for the educational
plans to get underway, various camps
In the district have started classes
of Instruction already. At the Rand
Ranger station camp there Is a class
In aeronautics, In which ten students
are enrolled.
Budd Shannon Is instructor, with
the theory of flight and aerodynamics
being studied by the men. Model
plane kits will be used and the
study of radio Is to be Included In
the course.
At Camp Cape Sebastian, on the
Oregon coast, John Hodge la conduct
ing a Journalism and short story
writing class, while Mr. Buford is
Instructing a group In natural his
tory and science. P. J. Hart, at the
same camp Is giving an elementary
course in French and L. N. Foy, a
member of the Medford Gleemen. has
organized a Glee club there.
Governor-Designate
To discuss trade agreements, mem
bers of the Hotel Assocs-tlon of
Klamath Falls, Ashland, Medford and
Grants Pass met at the Hotel Med
ford Wednesday, with Bert Hall of
Klamath Falls presiding at the meet
ing. The NRA was also considered
by the group.

of Christ, Scientist, In Boston, Mass.,
loses its first woman member by the
resignation of Mrs. Annie MacMillan
Knott, C. 8. D., who has led a long
and active life In the service of the
Christian Science Movement and has
richly earned the right to retirement.
Mrs. Knott first became identified
with the movement In 1892, becoming
a practitioner and teacher after study
ing under Mrs. Eddy, the discoverer
and founder of Christian Science.

DUBLIN. (fp) The Free State's
department of agriculture says the
wheat acreage has Increased from
21,388 in 1032 to 50.401 In 1033, be
cause of the government's policy of
fostering home grown crops. Oats,
barley, sugar beets and cattle also
Increased, but pigs, potatoes and tur
nips declined.
Portugal Backs Colonial Drinks.
LISBON. fP) A government decree
orders all schools, the army, navy and
other government establishments to
serve tea and coffee grown In Portu
guese colonics. Tariffs on colonial
tea are cut 70 per cent, while duty
on foreign tea Is raised 10 per cent

An enjoyable time was had by all
the Jury was presented the pint

key), after a verdict of "not guilty"
had been returned In Justice court

Coleman returned the verdict after
about 10 minute deliberation, ac
cording to those In the circuit court
room, where the trial was conducted.
With the prouncement of the ver
dict, one of the Jury members aakod
of the Judge why they couldn't keep
the bbttle, which they had taken to
the Jury room as evidence presented
by the state.
"I don't see why you can't if there
Is no objection," Judge Coleman was
quoted aa telling the Jurymen. The
Justice, however, declined, to take a
drink, explaining to-the Jury that If
any trouble should come up over
drinking In the courthouse, he
wouldn't be Involved.
