ness of his 11-year-old son last week,

local friends that the child had died.

Close Ashland Road Work Work on
the forest road, known aa the Ash
land mount aaln road, closed down
yesterday, because of two feet of
snow there, and wlU be resumed In
the summer. Three miles of construc
tion will be accomplished then. The
road will prove a valuable asset to
the city of Ashland, forest service of
ficials stated here yesterday, offering
a beautiful scenic drive, adjacent to
the city.

The American Legion Is taking an
active part In preparations for the
president's ball to be held January
30, with proceeds to go toward an
endowment for the benefit of the
"Warm Springs" (Georgia) Founda
tion for Infantile Paralysis.
All Legionnaires and Auxiliary aa
well as the general public are urged
to hold that evening free of other
engagements.
