H. a. Bennett, well-known local
nurseryman, was today passing around
apples to his many friends. In cele
bration of his 44th anlversary In
southern Oregon. The Bennetts came
here 44 years ago yesterday, January
1, and resided west of Phoenix until
1808, when they moved to Mcdfqrd.

One fireman was killed, and nine
others were Injured here Sunday
when two pieces of city fire equip
ment crashed together as they aped
to the acene of a dairy explosion and
fire.

Mlas Margsret Johnson, 10, and
four other persons at the dairy were
hurt when a tank on a cooling sys
tern exploded. The girl was thrown
through a window by the blast but
