More love tangles than have ever
been seen In one picture before will
be unfolded on the acreen of the
Createvlan theater when "Convention
City" will open tomorrow. The many
love affairs are aald to lead to the
maddest, merriest situations imagin
able. The plot of the story is unique and
novel, centering about the riotous
happenings at the annual sales Jam
boree at Atlantic City, and painting
the convention lets as neglecting busi
ness meetings in order to turn play
boys. A couple of wives who drop In un
expectedly on the carousals add to
the hilarious entanglements. Joan
Blondell, as the gold digging, blonde
haired vamp, causes most of the
troubles with her roving eyes and
her ilren smile. Men attending the
convention fall for her by the car
load with disastrous results to their
bankrolls.
A strong all-star cast Includes, be
sides Miss Blondell, Adalphe Menjou,
Dick Powell, Mary Astor, Guy Klbbee
and Fran McHugh.
PORTLAND BUTTER
E OFF
LEVEL
PORTLAND. Jan. 3. (AP) Butter
prices dropped I to lc during the
late session of the produce exchange.
This action was expected and In fact
overdue as there appeared no reason
for maintenance of the previously ad
vanced quotation aside from manipu
lative purposes.
Increased make of butter has been
shown locally for a week or so there
fore prices were held at the high
point as a stop to speculators.
Butter fat was down lc lb. In line
with butter declines.
Trading In the egg market was In
creasing here with more fresh stock
available and continued decrease In
offerings out of store.
There remained a good demand for
dressed turkeys In the local trade
with arrivals of limited volume. Sales
to retallera were generally 17c for
toms and ISe for hens of top quality
with the buying price lc below this.
Demand tor live chickens was gen
erally good although here and there
some easiness was reflected for me
dium and light weight hens. All other
sorts were firmly priced for the day.
Market for country killed calves
showed strength here with prices up
another notch. Hogs were about hold
ing their own as a result of late cuts
in livestock. Lambs were firm with a
higher price quoted.
Hide market was showing strength
although green hides were down a
fractlpn on account of the low beef
trade. Calves and kips were firm to
higher. Sheep pelts were also firm to
higher.
