Portland Event
Announcement was made here this
week of the betrothal of Miss Icel
Edwards, formerly of this city, now
of Seattle, to Edward Be hack of the
northern city. The engagement was
told at a recent party at the Benson
hotel In Portland, at which Miss Bet
ty Jones, also formerly of Medford,
was hostess. Among guests present
were the bride's ststr, Mlsa Georgia
Edwards, and Mia Viola Templeton
and Mrs. Florence Kurt 3 of Medford.
The wedding will be an event of
next summer. Miss Ewards, who Is
the daughter of George Edwards of
the Willow Springs district, has many
friends In Medford, having left here
but a few years ago to reside In
Seattle.

Bridge club, at her lovely country
home. A large number of members
were In attendance.

presided at the table. A centerpiece
of foliage waa surrounded by candles,
adding to the loveliness of the table.
The club voted not to meet until
after Christmas.

Has Fine Meeting
The Circle society of the First
Christian church met Tuesday eve
ning In the recreational hall of the
church, with the boys In charge of
the program. Wayne May was leader
and Interesting talks were given by
Earl McQuig, Carl Hover, Adrian Fra
ley and Leonard Klein. Gerald Lath
am led the discussion.
After the program, the girls were
In charge of the entertainment. Im
personating the boys, they put on
"The Laat Days, of School."

Hears Program
The Roosevelt Home and School
circle met Friday afternoon and
members heard an Interesting pro
gram. Including addresses by Mra.
Helen Holt Wilson, Mrs. Aletha Vaw
ter and Miss Asplnwall. emphasizing
the need for school children to make
use of libraries available to them.
The pupils from Miss Bond's room
sang two songs and the fern, awarded
the children having the greatest
number of mothers present, also went
to Mlsa Bond's room.
Following the program refresh
ments were aerved by some of the

birthday yesterday afternoon, when
her mother entertained a number of
friends at their home. A Christmas
tree furnished the leading feature of
the afternoon's fun.
