During the election of officer for
1934 at prevloua meeting, that of
selecting one for Juvenile leade. vm
postponed, resulting In the elerf'-n
of Arden Tyrell to the office of Juve
nile patron.
Many visitors from neighboring
Orangee accompanied their claase ot
candidates for Initiation In the third
and fourth degrees, Jointly with the
local class, there being 18 In all.
The work was put on by the Grange
drill team, directed by Captain P. A.
Bonney.
Worthy masters present, who each
gave Inspiring talks were Measrs. Dew
of Jacksonville, Taylor of Applegate
and Maust of Phoenix.
The place for- holding the Joint In
stallation of officers ot the several
groups was left to the decision of
the Pomona committee. .
A brief program consisted of two
vocal 601os by Ed Vincent; resdlng by
Harriett Sparrow and two piano solos
by Cyril Sander was enjoyed.
Members voted in favor of holding
the annual, all-day Thanksgiving
dinner, entertainment with games,
program and supper. Next regular
meeting will be on December 1.
Following the grand march the
drill team led the way to the re
freshment room, followed by honor
guests and new Initiates.

WHEN BUCK DIVES
INTO WINDSHIELD
ASHLAND, Not. 33. (Spl.) Deer
season closed several weeks ago, but
Lee Wallls, mail carrier between
Klamath Falls and Aahland bagged
a big four-point buck Tuesday in an
unusual socldent that nearly cost
him hla life.
Wallls was driving along the Oreen-
springs road about two miles east
of the White Star service station, at
about 10:30 a. m., when the big buck,
running at full speed, csjne into the
road end attempted to hurdl? Wallls'
car.
The head and front quarters of
the buck hit the windshield, the hind
legs and rear quarters swinging
through the window on the left ilde
of the car. The deer lashed out with!
Its hind feet and Inflicted a number
of cuts on Wallls' head and neck be
fore he could bring hla car to a stop.
Lynn Roycroft and Sid Herbert,
Klamath Falls, who were traveling
some distance behind Wallls, arrived
and took charge of the situation.
Rowcroft and Herbert loaded the deer,
whose neck was broksn by the impact
of his collision with the car, into
their car and Roycroft drove Wallls
In to Ashland.
Wallls was taken to Dr. 0. A.
Haines' office where about a dozen
clips were used to close the wounds
inflicted by the deey. The big buck,
which had four points on one aide
and five on the other, was turned
over to state police.

Utility taxes have steadily increased
to such an extent, Griffith continued,
until at this time the taxes being
