Oregon Webfoots were southward
bound today for Los Angeles, where
they will meet the Trojans Saturday
afternoon In their Inst conference
game of the season.
Coach Prink Calllson left Eugene
by train last night with 90 players,
his coaching and training staff and
the team physician, and his farewell
statement was of his belief that Stan
ford's victory over the men of Troy
can be duplicated and that Oregon Is
the aggregation that can do It.
Players going southward for the
crucial battle Include: Hughes and

Eagle, Nllaaon, Frye, Nellson and
Bishop, tackles; Morse, Wlshard, Poe

enough against the Webfoot plays
as simulated by the third string, but
permitted several passes to be com
pleted, much to the disgust of Jones.
(By Harold Grove.)
With two games left on their sched
ule and one of them to decide south
ern Oregon's representation at Port
land for the mythical state football
title, Medford high school grldsters
settled down to some hard work 'in
preparation for the game Saturday
with the Orants Pass team.
Grants Pass boasts for the first
time in many a game that It has
an uninjured football squad together
and will be In full force Saturday.
During the Ashland game three or
four of the first string pliycrs were
otu of the lineup on injuries or some
thing or other. Grants Pass, playing
with their full squad, missed defeat
ing Roseburg by one point, the final
score being 7 to 0 In favor of the
Roseburg team.
Outside the sudden spurt of
strength, Grants Pass has not been
figured very strong. If G:ints Pass
should beat Medford it will be one
of the greatest upsets In prep foot
ball of the state.
The Tigers reported for practice
last evening and went through a bar
rage of offensive grid tactics. The
point most needed Is a passing at
tack that will work In any game.
The ball was given first to Glllnsky
and then Ghelardl was sent In to
take his place. Back field men and
ends went tearing all over the field,
snagging at long passes, short passes
and any other kind, of passes the
backs tossed at them.
If the backs were not being used
in the passing practice they were
used In the practicing of grid funda
mentals with the line.
Medford high school has an excel
lent chance of being In on the play
off for the state title.
Last year Medford Journeyed to
Portland with a long string of vic
tories at her belt, but was turned
back by the Portland Interacholastlc
champs, Jefferson high school.
Coach Burgher Is watching eveiy
possible source to better the Tiger
squad. I
