price advanced 3c In. Surrey of the
situation by the Journal Indicated
that the publlo was resenting In a
most substantial way recent manipu
lative tactics at the trade. , Such tac
tics were not confined to thel local
territory but appeared' general
throughout the country.
Despit this showing of weakness In
butter with accumulating surpluses In
practically all markets, the exchange
here has held Its former advances,
although regular trading Is shown
U to 1 below such established fig
ures.
, With heavy supplies of cold storage
eggs being rushed to Portland by
Puget Sound Interests, the trade here
was badly mixed. Prices were be
ginning to waver but strictly fresh
goods were selling fairly well.
Trading In the live chicken trade
continued of steady character but
without general price change. Heavy
hens were In best call and continued
a trifle scarce.
Turkey market continued of nom
inal character. Prices In the main
were unchanged but were so nominal
as to make It difficult to place mora
than a small volume.
Weakness dominated the entire
oountry-ktlled veal trade along the
wholesale way, but there was no
further lowering of the price list.
-Hogs were steady while lambs were
barely holding their own.
Undertone of the potato trade con
tinued to gain locally but prices here
were little changed, in spots a nicxei
more was reported received for both
Taklma and Deschutes. Locals were
holding about steady.

The Medford Pear Orowers was one
of the organisations formed by L. A.

life sentence for murder. Wrapping

zation. Defendants hold that the
paper was uaed by Banks in his own
packing business and that they. In-
dlvldually or collectively, received no
benefits, and did not authorize Its
purchase. The plaintiff holds that
the act of an official binds the or
ganization.

south fork of Rogue river, headquar
ters announced, today. A total of
110 Illinois men will go to Grants
Pass Monday, from there to be sent
to ' Rand ranger station, where one
of the winter camps is located.
