BUI Warden died here last week at
the age of 81 and It was only re-
I membered laat night thst he was the
colored man who pulled down Ban
Francisco In 1006.
In any event, Bill believed to his
laat breath thst he and not an earth
quake wrecked the Oolden Date city
that memorable morning of April 18.
Bill was something of a figure about
town before the catastrophe. After
ward no one could tell him he wasn't
the best man In Ban Francisco.
Bill lived by his wits and his wits
often got him In trouble. His greet
strength snd a shsrp razor usually
got him out of trouble. He was a
hard drinking man. and had hie bad
moment tht morning after.
It was S a. m. on Apr 18, 1908.
that Bill Warden weaved Into a aa

hsd no money, but thought he had
credit.

told him firmly.
