production dropped off by millions
of feet, r?ld their places as the first
and second lumber producing atatea
of the nation ln 1032. They were the
only states reporting cuts of 8ne bil
lion feet or more.
This was disclosed today in a. re
port of the department of commerce
which set the 1012 Washington pro
duction at 3.200,60,000 feet, and the
Oregon at 1.603,862,000 feet.
Both states ditppcd off consider
ably from the 1931 ut. the report
showed, and produf ed leas than hftlf
the cut for 1030. In 1931 Washing-
to produced 3.007,007.000 feet of
lumber while ln 1930 the production
wna 3,502.120)00 feet.
The trend in Oregon production
wns similar. The 1031 cut was 2,
628.015 feet, end ln 1030 It was 3,
054.075.000 feet.
Producing mills In Oregon dropped
from 4:0 In 1030 to 327 In 1031. and
277 In 1932. In Oregon t,he drop
was from 442 In 1030 to 360 In 1031,
