for appendicitis, is home again, too.

CALLED BY DEATH
Charles Izera Corbln passed away
at his residence, 403 Clark street,
early Thursday evening after an Ill
ness extending over a period of four
years. He was born In Iowa In 1865
and had lived in Medford for the past
eight years. He leaves many friends
to mourn .his passing.
He had made his home with
friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Remus,
of Clark street for the past six years.
Mr. Corbln leaves a sister. Anne
Smith, and a brother, James, of Van
couver, Wah. '
Funeral services. In charge of the
Perl Funeral Home, will be announc
ed upon arrival of the sister.

Russell Hawkins of Portland, mem
ber of the federal home loan bank
board In Washington, D. C, has been
removed to Garfield Memorial hos
pital there for treatment of Influenza,
according to a Washington dispatch
to the Oregonlan.

Only the approval of Secretary of
Agriculture Wallace remained today
to make effective a blanket license
system that will affect every handler
of the fruit In the Pacific North
west. The system was expected to
go Into effect today as the result of
an agreement reached here last
night by the control committee of
Northwest Fruit Industries, Inc..
Paul A. Scherer, Medford, president
of the organization, announced.
The ltcrnse system will be estab
lished In accordance with a market
ing agreement signed October 13
by Secretary of Agriculture Wal
lace and will apply to the tree fruit
industry In Oregon, Washington, Id
aho and Montana.
Amendment Made
The marketing agreement was fin
ally accepted by the control com
mittee of Northwest Fruit Industries,
Inc., last night after tour days of
Intensive conferences here and only
after an amendment to the agree
ment hnd been adopted'.
Scherer said a "whlrlwld signup"
campaign was conducted by wire,
telephone and airplane yesterday
with the result that the required
percentage of the tree fruit tonnage
was signed up by 6 p. m. to make
the amendment effective. He did
not disclose the nature of the amend
ment. The marketing agreement Is de
signed, Scherer said, to Improve the
lot of the tree fruit industry in
the northwest. The NFt was creat
ed to administer the agreement In
the Pacific, Northwest.
