Miss VanDyke graduated from the

Plans Card Party.
Their first card party of the year
will be given by members of the
auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Monday evening, October 16, at
8 o'clock In the Eagles' hall. Bridge
and 500 will be played with prizes
given for high and low scores in
each. Following cards, refreshments
will be served.
A small charge will be made for
benefit of the relief fund. An in
vitation la extended to all who enjoy
an evening at cards.

ful setting Thursday afternoon for
the meeting of the Building Bridge
club with Mrs. Sid Brown. There

during the afternoon and Mrs. R. L.

ner, waa a guest from Portland at

There were 10 tables of cards In
play Wednesday evening at the bene
fit party, sponsored by St. Ann's Altar
society In parish hall, with Mrs. Rose
Slngler, committee chairman for the
evening.
Prizes were awarded Mrs. Josephine
Clark in contract, Mrs, Taylor in auc
tion ' and Mrs. Joseph Doplemeler in
500.
Daughters Union '
Veterans to Meet,
Plans for the visit of the state In
spector, Mrs. May Eaberg of Portland,
will be made at the meeting tonight
of the Daughters of Union Veterans
of the Civil War, and a good attend
ance la urged by the president, Miss
Edwards. The meeting will be held
at the Armory, opening at 8 o'clock.
Ceremonial Planned
For Tomorrow
The ceremonial being put on by
Zulelma, Temple. Daughters of the
Nile, will be held at 3 o'clock to
morrow afternoon, following the
luncheon scheduled for 13 o'clock.
The luncheon Is to be served In the
Masonic dining hall by members of
the patrol.

Funeral services for Austin Joseph
White or Hilt, cal., who lost his life
in an auto wreck here early Wednes
day mcrnlng at the Intersection of
Kings highway and Stewart avenue,
will be held at the graveside In the
Siskiyou Memorial park, Saturday
afternoon st S o'clock. Rev. W. J.
Howell will deliver the sermon, wltn

rangements. A number of relatives of the man
are now in Medford, and others sre
expected for the funeral tomorrow.
A cousin, Tom Delzell, well known
here, was over from Klamath Palls
yesterday.
Pred Clawson of Ashland and Hilt,
and James Creel of Hilt, who received
severe Injuries In the same auio
wreck, were reported In an improved
condition at the Community hospital
today.
Clawson's mother, Mrs. Anna Claw
son of Hornbrook, Cel., arrived yes
terday to be near him. Hla brother.
Theodore Clawson, was also down
from Ashland.
The investigation of the wreck and
evente preceding It at the Valley
View roadhouso, from which tfhe m'.i
were returning when their Ford coupe
failed to make the turn, was being
continued today. The date for the
inquest into White's death, however,
has not been announced, although
one la planned, the district attorney's
office reported yesterday.
