LEGION, AUXILIARY
INSTALL JOINTLY
MONDAY EVENING
Medford Post No. IS, American
Legion, and- Vte Ladles' Auxiliary
will hold their annual installation
ot officers for the coming year at
a joint Installation to be held at
the K. P. hall on North Grape street
Monday evening at 8:30 p. m. Dis
trict' Commander El wood Hussey of
Kerby Post, will be installing officer
and Past Commander Wm. 8. Bol-
ger will open the meeting in the
regular form.
Delegations from Kerby, Grants
Pass and A&Hland posts will be pres
ent and Commander L. C. Oarlock
urges every member of Medford post
to be there to start the new officers
off to a flying start for the next
year. "Give them the support they
deserve and help them put Medford
post over the top early in member
ship," was Oarlock's parting Injunc
tion. "The new cards are here and
the new adjutant will be glad to
accept your dues at any time. Don't:
wait for someone to call on you ;
and ask for them. This is the be
ginning of the Legion year, with the
installing of new officers, the start
of our membership drive and var
ious other Legion programs. It is
well to pause in Legion introspec
tion.
"What questions can we ask our
selves? Wherein have we failed and
how can we be better Legionnaires?
Have we done our best to gather
members into the fold? Have we
participated In the various activities
to the best of our ability? Worst
of all, have we stood on the side
lines and criticized, while others
have tried to carry the burden of
our share? What better time than
now to show the proper spirit to
ward the greatest veteran organiza
tion In the history of America?
"How well are known Its needs.
rf we feel that we have a grievance,
why not bury the hatchet (but, not
in the other fellow's neck) and try
each in his own way. to do his bit
toward making his own post bigger
and better?
"The natural satisfaction in being
a part of an up-and-coming post
will be Its own reward. To try one's
best, to do one's best, la Indeed
honorable and In serving the Leg
ion we honor ourselves.
"Out of our self-examination on
Legion lam is there one among us so
bold as to declare he could have
done no better? indeed the num
ber is small, and the specie rare. It
is indeed a fitting time for resolu
tions. In our sett-analysis we each
know best wherein we can improve.
Let's each one of us put our shoulder
to the wheel for a bigger and bet
ter Legion."
