Mr. Steep Dies Mrs. C. O. Van-
Sooyoc today received word of the
death Sunday evening of Edward
Steep, a former resident of Medford,
having made his home here for many
jeara. He came to this city in 1909
Mr. Steep died at his home In Beverly
Hills, Cal., where he has resided for
the past two years. He was 82 years
of age.
Mrs. Powell Still 111 Mrs. Pr-d
Powell, who has been convalescing
for the past week at the home of
her aunt at Merrill, Ore., was unable
to return to Medford Sunday as she
had planned, and will be in her shop
c?aln next Monday, for the first time
Mr. Powell motored to Merrill yester
day to bring her home, but she was
not able to make the trip.

charged with driving while intoxi
cated, was fined $100. sentenced to
30 days in the county Jail, which
sentence automatically revokes his
driver's license for a year. Phelan
was given 60 dnys to pay his fine.

Lecture Tonight Miss Flower Sech
ler of Los Angeles, who will lecture
this evening at 220 North Oakdale
avenue, on "The Law of Compensa

Close Savaee Gates According to
the Grants Pass Daily Courier, the
gates at the Savage Rapids dam were
cJosed Monday morning and workmen
commenced removing the pipe-line
across the river, Forbes W. Fosbery,
secretary-manager of the Grants Pass
Irrigation district, said Monday. Thla
concludes the 1033 Irrigation season,
and after the pipe-line has been re
moved, different maintenance work
will be done until winter. The pipe
line, which la used to carry water
from the gravity ditch on the south
side over to the north side of tfce
Rogue river, la removed each winter
to lessen danger of its being torn
down by high wster.
