Visits Ryans Robert Ryan of
Washington. D. 0-, who arrived here
by train yesterday, is visiting the
Luke Ryan family.
To Crater Lake Miss Z. L. Parcell
of Los Angeles arrived In the city
today on the Oregonlan from Port
land, and left shortly before noon by
stage for Crater Lake.
Has Broken Leg I. C. Williams of
Talent waa taken to the Community
hospital last evening, with a broken
leg. He was reported as getting along
nicely today.
Mr. Whitehead Here M. R. White
head of the Pacific Fruit Express
company, with headquarters in Port
land. Is a visitor In Med ford today,
attending to company matters.

Leaves for Seattle Bill Taylor of
Seattle, son of B. C. Taylor, who is
well known In Med ford, left today on
the Shasta for his home in the north,
having been the guest or Verne

having rented their home on the
Jacksonvlle highway to M. W. Van

Tools Reported Stolen J. C. Cass
of the Cass Auto Wrecking shop south
of Medford, filed a report this week
with the state police that a kit of
tools waa stolen from his place. They:
were valued at $25, he said.
Go to California Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Campbell of Medford, who spent
the week-end at Tennant. Cal.. with
Mrs. Campbell's sister, Mrs. P. M.
Pilson, are spending a few days In
Ashland, visiting.

left Sunday on the Shasta for San
Francisco to meet her son Maurice,
who comes Into port at San Francisco
Tuesday, completing his fourth trip
around the world on the 8. 8. Presi
dent Adams.
Expected Here Gilbert Beath of
Hollywood. Cal., who has been in
Portland attending to business mat
ters, la expected to arrive in Medford
today. Mrs. Beath is in the city, vis
iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E.
Robinson.
Bronze -Stolen A box of bronze
weighing between 150 and 200 pounds
was taken from the lot back of the
Earle R. White Machinery company
on South Fir street some time last i
night, according to White's report j
with the city and state police.
Car Hits Child Orval V. Hayes of
508 Mary street was driving the auto- j
mobile which yesterday afternoon t
struck Floyd Whillock, 8. who suffer-1
ed a broken ankle. The small boy j
was taken to Dr. C. T. Sweeney's of
fice for treatment.

ington a radio address over the na
tional hookup, supporting the N R. A.
driver. General Fries spoke at 5
p. m., E. S. T., Washington, which
was 2 p. m. here. Several local peo
ple listened in on the speech and 1
declared It an excellent one. Be
cause of the early hour, however,
many home sete failed to gt satis
factory reception.

Tonsils Removed Bernle Hughes,
employed at Crater Lake national
park this season, and center of the
University of Oregon football team,
recently underwent an operation for
removal of his tonsils at a Eugene
hospital. Hughes will be well and
able to report for football at Eugene
September 9.
Arrested In Ashland Miss Jessie
Seabrook of Central Point was ar
rested in Ashland Monday morning
for violating four regulations of the
traffic code. Miss Seabrook was
charged with driving 41 miles an
hour through the business district,
passing a car at an Intersection,
driving without a proper muffler, and
she had no driver's license.

Train strikes Trailer G. H. John
son of Grants Pass, driving a stage

was struck by an engine on the
Southern Pacific tracks at Jackson,

8tart New Schedule The new Boe
ing twin-motored United Air Lines
ship, which reaches Medford from
Seattle at midnight tonight, and con
tinues on to Oakland at 12:10, will
be the first ship on the new schedule.
Under the new arrangement the pilot
makes the flight from Seattle to Oak
land, and from Oakland to Seattle,
without stopping over at Medford, as
has previously been customary. Heber
Miller will be piloting the ship which
inaugurates tne new move tonight.
