city have announced the engagement
of their daughter, Myrna Leu, to
Frank Buchter of San Francisco, son
of Mr. and Mra, Henry Buchter ot

University of Oregon, Is a popular

Mlsa Mary Corn, who came to this
city soveral weeks ago with Mrs. Har
old Dagg of Seattle to be guest for a
time of Dr. and Mrs. R. W, Clancy,
left Tuesday evening for her home In
Portland. She waa accompanied north
by the Dagg children, Denlse and
Robert, who remained with their
grandparents for a longer visit after
Mrs. Dagg returned home.

The Women's Relief corps held a
social meeting Thursday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. John Young, lo
Rose avenue. There waa a large at
tendance and a short program was
given. Dr. Standard, from Phoenix,
gave a number of splendid readings,
also Mrs. Elneof and Mrs. Weed.
Amusing stories were told by several
present. Guests of the afternoon
were Comrade J. C. Woods and Dr.
Susie Btendsrd. Refreshment were
served by Mesdames Young, Csmeron
and Weed. The next social will be
held In August.

N'ewhurys Return From
Visit In Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Newbury and
little daughter, Nancy Jean, have re
turned from apendlng a week In Port
land and Salem, visiting. relatives and
friends. They were accompanied on
the trip north by Mrs. Newbury's
aunt, Mrs. J. A. Maddox of Klamath
Falls, for whom Mra. Newbury enter
tained here prior to the trip.
Motoring home from Portland, the
Newburya and their guest took the
Mt. Hood loop road and the Bend
highway to Klamath Falls. They re
ported the weather unusuelly pleaa
ant and the highways In splendid
condition.
Mr. Newbury was called north to
