the lecture hour program at their

Practice was held on Thursday
night of last week at the hall, and
a further practice waa held Monday

The Orange Is the only farmer's
fraternal organisation In the world,
and is working for the Interests of
the farmers and the common people.
We are not a group of Ignorant fol
lowers of propagandists, as the press
working In the interest of big busi
ness, sometimes try to make you be
lieve. The salea tax measure Is one of the
most pernicious proposed laws ever
put before the American people, and
the Orange, national, state, county
and local, are opposing It.
Under this sales tax the farmer
will pay by far the largest part of
the tax, for while the city man -will
pay on what he and, hla family eat
and wear, the farmer will' pay on
not only what he and his family eat
and wear,- but he must pay on seeds
and fertilizers for hts farm, on what
hla cows, horses, pigs, turkeys and
chickens est.
But the worst part of this tax Is
the personal property tax exemption.
This exemption will savs the farmer
a small personal tax on , few cows
and a handfu) of worn out farm
machinery. It will save the city
merchant many times mors than
that, for any small merchant ' has
many times more value in personal
property on his shelves. It will save
the retail lumberman, the whole
saler, the mills, and all manufactur
ers the tax on their -whole output.
The laborer lind th Ismail horns
owner will have an additional tax
to pay, with no exemptions. The
farmer will have a large sales tax
to pay, and s small exemption on
personal property. The big business
man will have a tremendous exemp
tion on personal property tsx and a
proportionately small sales tsx to pay.
The tax saves the big man a lot,
the middle class nothing, and the
laborer, will pay more tax than ever.
