Among Interesting late arrivals In
southern Oregon are Mrs. Helen B.
Rutherford of Ban Francisco and Wil
liam Horn, who came from the bay
city yesterday.
They will be guests of the O. N.
Blacks at their Rogue River lodge for
about 10 days and the Blacks are In
viting a number of frlenda to greet
them there today. Both Mrs. Ruther-.
ford and Mr. Horn have been summer
guests in Med ford during paat years
and will be welcomed by host of
friends.

a trip to Vancouver, B. C., and San

Beautiful memorial services were
given by Amethyst No. 97. Mrs.
Esther Ftlsbee, bond president of the
assembly of Oregon, answered, the
questions from the question box and
gave many suggestions.
The evening session was called after
dinner which was served In the din
ing room. Mrs. Lucretla Whlllock,
presiding.
President Esther Bond, Past Presi
dent Nellie Wattenburg, past Grand
Master Geo. Trefren and several dis
trict deputy presidents were Intro
duced. Short talk? were given by the
visitors.
After lodge closed, a short program
was given.
At the close of the afternoon ses
sion the office re for the next year
were installed. Mrs. Ethel Weed '-f

son, of Mt. Pitt. Visiting chairman
and Mrs. Etta Carter, Mt. Pitt, secretary-treasurer.

land, Cal., who have been guests for
the past two weeks of Mr. and Mm.
Nick Klme, returned home Thurs
day, Mrs. Stlne Is Mrs. KJme's sister
and was formerly Miss Emma Plymale
ot Jacksonville, where she spent her
girlhood. She reported many changes
in the valley since her last visit here
and was pleased with the develop

large affair, held Tuesday afternoon,
with Miss Mae Phlpps as hostess.

attend a family reunion at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H.

The Sharps will entertain five chil
dren and four grandchildren at their
home today. Among others coming
from a distance will be Mrs. St. Clara
of Calgary, Canada; and Mr. and
Mrs. William Sharp of Seattle.
Christian Missionary
Group Has Meeting
The Women's Missionary Society of
First Christian churoh met In Recrea
tional hall of the church Friday after
noon. It was first meeting of the
missionary year and the re-elected of
ficers presided. The president, Mrs.
A. Curry called the meeting to order
at. 2 o'clock, and presided at the busi
ness session.
Names of new chairmen and group
leaders were read. The following
leaders will have the programs in
charge: Mrs. David Hood, Mrs. Fred
Gerard, Mrs. E. E. Bads, Mra. R. L.
Ray, Mrs. B. Hooper and Mrs. Walter
Kindred. The worship period was
conducted by Mrs. Mabel Marshy She
read from Jno. 31-9-17, aa fitting the
theme "Lovest Thou Me." Mrs. Hood
led the presentation hour, announcing
the topics as Romance of Beginnings.
She gave a short introductory talk
of the early beginning of early mis
sionary work using a blackboard for
outlines and dates..
"Hands Across the Sea," showing
how and 'when the foreign work wis
started, given by Mrs. C. M. Hon;
"Frontiers at Home," given by Mrs. A.
Curry, showing the launching of the
home missionary work; "Our Pioneer
Leader" was given by Mrs. Dodge,
showing the work of Mrs. Caroline
Pearre In early days. Mrs. Margaret
Fisher, a charter member of the local
society, gave a short resume of the
early work done here. A social hour
followed.
