preserving the timber adjacent to
Crater Lake highway near Proapect,
was recently passed by th Veteran
of Foreign Wars local post:
"Whereas, It has been brought to
our attention that unless Immediate
action Is taken, the roadside beauty
of the Crater Lake highway between
Prospect, Oregon, and th Rogue
River National Forest boundary, will
be despoiled through logging opera
tions, brought about through th ln
ability of the Rogue River Timber
company, (owners ot this land) to
longer pay taxes, fire suppression and
prevention costs without turning thl
forest Into lumber. And
"Whoreas, th acquisition of a8.

for a distance of 4.2 mllea will ade
quately protect th roadside beauty,
from Prospect to Crater Lake Na
tional Park, for all time to come, and

expressed their Inability to acqulr
this tract through lack of funds, and
