No displays will be accepted after 11 o'clock, so those which have not arrived before that time will not ap pear In the show. The increased size of the annual event has made It necessary for the committees to be more strict In enforcement of rules governing entries. The show will open to the public at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and will remain open through Thurs day. Exhibitors are reminded that all flowers must remain In displays until Friday morning. Among this year's most anticipated displays will be those from the local Japanese colony. Many lovely flowers and arrangements were entered by the Japanese women last year and since the last show. E AT PORTLAND, June 2. OF) Forth right action on a definite program to cleanse the WUUamette river of pol lution sewage, was urged by Governor Julius L. Meier at a meeting here Thursday attended by mayors or other representatives of nearly all cities and towns In the Willamette basin It Is planned to use federal money If this is available through the pub lic works bill now before congress, in the construction of sewage disposal plants. A committee of three engineers will immediately undertake a survey to determine what Is needed. Each city was urged to cooperate to the utmost with this committee. The governor said "there will be no delay; we will have this presented at Washington, D. 0., at the earliest possible mo ment." Fehl, on charge of stealing shotguns, having been arrested Tuesday afternoon by lty police. Young Schatz, who has been ar rested for theft previously, was ap prehended when he attempted to sell a gun he had allegedly stolen from W. C. Smith. Police have two guns which they claim Schatz stole. Counties represented at the meet ing, scheduled to start this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock are Tillamook. Coos. Denton, Clackamas. Douglas. Klam ath, Lincoln. Una, Marlon. Pole. Washington. Yamhill, Lane, Colum bia, and Uuitnomao. The administration recently an nounced that in accordance with it economy policy, the O-C funds, this year would not be paid In full. but. would be pro-rated Many of the counties planned on the federal mon ey to pay their state taxes, and In cluded It In their budgets for county Items. Jackson county recently submitted its 1032 claim for the O-C fund amounting to approximately J69.000. The federal appropriation for pub lic health service was recently cut from $300,000 to 125.000, by the econ omy action, leaving practically noth ing to carry on the work. The cut be comes effective July 1. The Eugene conference of officials will also discuss thla situation. Elim ination of the fund is a severe blow to health work among children and adults, who otherwise would not da able to procure medical benefits. County Judge 2 H. Fehl, County Commissioners R, E.
