30. charged with being drunk on a
public highway, was lodged in Jail
by state police this morning. Brea

of commerce. With an official head
ing of the police department the
slips, which will be left In many cars,
have all the appearance of the fore
boding tags that traffic copa leave.
They read however, close examina
tion reveals: "We take this oppor
tunity to welcome you to our city;
also to remind you that you have
violated the traffic ordinance by

by membere of the publicity com
mittee, who will name whatever of
fenses they choose.
The penalties prescribed are as
follows: Trip to Jacksonville, trip to j
crater Lake, trip to Lake o' the
Woods or Diamond Lake, trip to Ore
gon Caves.

A formal charge of failure to halt
and give assistance following an auto
accident, was filed late yesterday by
the district attorney's office against
W. G. Nelson, truck operator and
foreman for the Central Point cut
off construction. Bond waa fixed at
91500 pending action of the next
grand Jury.
Nelson Is charged with running
down Flagman Baize Tuesday night,
when traveling at an excessive rate
of apeed and when he Ignored his
orders to stop. Baize sustained a
broken pelvic bone and leg and other
Injuries. His condition waa reported
as Improving. Internal Injuries were
feared, but did not develop, physic
ian's reported.
Following the accident, Nelson waa
arrested In the western section of
the city. State police reported that
the bumper and one light of his car
had been removed.

IS Cents Bottle
Several local retailers announced
this morning that western beer would
be sold at the reduced price of fif
teen cents a bottle, the beverage up
to the present time having been on
sale for twenty cents. According to
news dispatches from the north, the

M'CARTHY'S DOG NOT
VICIOUS SAYS JUDGE
Jack McCarthy's police dog was
found not guilty of vlclousnesa in
city court yesterday, when Judge Al
len D. Curry announced his verdict
In answer to the complaint .brought
by Miss May Phlpps, whose little
terrier was badly chewed a short
time ago by the well known fighter's
dog.
McCarthy was instructed by the
court, however, to keep his dog on
a leash to avoid any future en
counters with dogs untrained In the
pugilistic art.

bune. Neither he nor Mrs. Conner,
he said, had believed that the boy
would take his own life as had been
Indicated In a note reputedly found
In his room, but he declared that
nevertheless, "we are Immeasurably
relieved."
Had the boy not been found yes
terday, Conner said, a member of the
family would have left here last
night for West Point to be at the
scene of the search. The trip will
not be made now, he said, because
of ample assurance that their son's
condition Is satisfactory. k
Late yesterday the Conners re
ceived a message from their son say
ing "Everything all right. Will write
soon. Love to all. John " The West
Point oommandant telegraphed that
young Conner had been found "In
excellent condition, considering that
he had been in the woods without
food since disappearance. Now in
hospital taking nourishment."
