ite in Medford. The boys want to
nee him In action again, after having
seen him tako a decision from Herb
White two weeks ago, and they are
willing to pay to see him.
As tonight's card Is the first of a
series w.hlch will comprise the light
weight tournament to be held here,
fans will soon have no doubt aa to
who is the beat lightweight In south
ern Oregon. Most of them already
feel the honors He betweeen Monroe
and White, but, as LtllarU ald yes
terday, "you never can tell when
some youngster will knock the block
off the favored man."
White, although he lost to Monroe
two week ago, wasn't hurt, aa Mon
roe worked on Whites, body almost
entirely. Most White fans feel th&t
If Herb had rushed Monroe and had
slugged It out with him early in the
fight, that he might have taken the
Klamath boy. Monroe Is a better
boxer than Herb, but can't hit aa
hard.
Battling Bono, who reecntly fought
Jack McCarthy here, will meet Cliff
Span-, formerly of The Dalles but now
of Medford. In the six-round semi
wlndup. Sparr Is reputed to have
held full sway in light-weight ranks
up around The Dalles, and feels con
fident he will take Beno tonight, and
McCarthy in the near future. Mc
Carthy recently beat Beno by a close
decision.
Frank Jowett will meet Bob Irwin
In a four-round go, and Medford fans
will then be able to tell whether a
fleet champion Is anything to crow
about. Jewett was lightweight king
of his fleet while he was in the navy.
Chief Orey Eagle of Chiioquln will
onen the card In a four-round tco
against Dave Morris of Klamath Palls,
