gon agricultural extension service
here reply that the mortgage relief
section of the bill provldca:
. That excessive farm debt may be
out down, Interest rates may be re
duced, payments on principal may be
postponed, foreclosed farms may be
redeemed, and farmers may be as
sisted In meeting other obligations.
To Assist All Classes

tration, Indlcatea an effort has been
made to assist directly or Indirectly
all classes of agricultural borrowers
w,no have been caught with oppress
ive debt In the rapid deflation of
farm values.
"The first attention has been giv
en the 400.000 farmers who now owe
the federal land banks about one
billion dollars on farm mortgages,'
the extension service commentators
said. "The new law grant a five
year moratorium on principal pay
ments to the land banks and reduces
the Interest rate beglnlng early In
July to 4ft per cent, wnero ib mu
stay for the next five years."
Interest Itntes Low '
New borrowers from the land banks
within the next two years will be
granted this ssme rate of Interest,
which la well below the ordinary
commercial rates.
Inasmuch as the great majority of
farm mortgages are held by other
than governmental or semi-governmental
agencies, assistance Is to be
extended this class of borrowers thru
provisions for Issuing two billion dol
lars in government bonds to obtain
money to be loaned through the
present federsl Isnd bank system.
Banks Offered Bid
Joint stock land banks, also, are
offered aid in liquidation it they will
meet certain provisions such as re
ducing Interest rates and suspending
foreclosures unless such are approved.

tlon of $300,000,000 to be loaned to
farmers so they may redeem farm
property lost In foreclosure or meet
other Indebtedness In a specified
list.
The state college experts said the
federal land bank at Spokane now

Monarch Seed & Feed Co.. according
to Rymond Mlkache. Twenty-four
turkeys hatched by Mrs. W. E. Hum
mel of Eagle Point on the 17th day
of April were placed in their retail
a tore window when the poults were
two dys old. These turkeys received
Crown Komplete-Kompreat Turkey
Starter Pellets and water only. Drink
ing utensils were sterilized twice
dally to prevent the encroachment of
dlMSse and the feed kept before the
birds constantly. '.
Turkeymen who have watched these
pouIU grow express themaelvca as
never having seen such growth be
fire. The amsll amount of starting
feed consumed for such exceedingly
heavy growth has been almost unbe
lievable,, This experiment will be con
cluded on Saturday next when a new
lot of poults from Mrs. Hammola Uir
key ranch will replace the present
flock and another experiment started
to run for another 4 weeks. These
trials are proving of deep Interest to
turkey men of southern Oregon.
